Our shipyard is planning to buy a shipbuilding software, and right now we have 2 options: Nupas Cadmatic and Foran.

We would like to have reviews about the above mentioned software from users so that we can make an informed decision.

Nupas Cadmatic must be for ships not for boats.

    nupas compared to foran

I would choose Nupas over Foran because in my opinion it is more flexible and more intuitive to use. Although I have not used Foran, just watched people use it and used the output from it, so it is really just my opinion.
We use nupas for our 3D structural design and for plans and arrangements, and the system works well, especially the 3D structural design. If you get Cadmatic as well, then you can do all your piping and system design in one 3D model along with your structure...your customers will like being able to "fly" through the model and see every bracket, manhole, pipe, valve etc.
Nupas has a good connection with Napa, and can work with most hullform or stability software.
The negative side of Nupas is that the system gets slow when the model is large or complex, it's easy to get started but you need a lot of experience before you can do complex things. The 3D structural design part is easier in some ways then the 2D arrangements, but if you use the 2D part for making arrangements then every drawing can be linked to each other using the same models so you only need to make revisions in one drawing to have all the others updated...saves time.
Hope that helps and is not too biased!

Any particular reason you are only considering those two systems? There are quite a few other systems you should consider, they all have their strengths and weaknesses.

yes, we had other options, as aveva did not contact with (we sent our querry to them ,but they did not replied properly) we have not taken them in our list, senodly as we have known Nupas-Cadmatic and Foran are more powerful than Shipconstructor we are planning to go for that two.

But I would thank you for suggesting us for looking into other options too. I excepted that I would have many opinions from different people from the forum who used those software, which will help us selecting the best one for us.
