    Hi all,

I have to rebuild a broken hobie 14....

my customer has an idea to make a wavepiercing bow for her....like wildcat has...
he thinks that it will gives more volume at the front, and will be less pitch poles...since he is around 90kgs...

it could be funny, but I don't have any idea it will work or not.....

by tha way we rebuilt an old tornado into a wp bow and it works absolutely great on these small but straigth waves...

do you have any ideas about it?

    thanx,
    Lafouchat

Mate, anything has got to be an improvement on the standard Hobie bow - nothing ventured, nothing gained! Give it a go.

But - what about the deadrise toward the stern - how will that work? Somebody who has the dimensions may be able to draw it up....

Needs more bouyancy aft. Develop the inside face to a rectangular transom with foam, glass over it but keep the weight to a minimum.

Just was thinking of it...my idea was to make a bit longer the hull, but your idea is sounds great!!!!! Some foam and 2layers of 300g carbon would be enough...
    Hm?

This is cracy ... do it!!! Use the stronger blue styrofoam (~ 45kg/m³) and 2 Layers of 200 gr/m² shall do the job!

I have my Tornado ready for painting, so its sanded completly. Perhaps its time for a wavepiercer bow? Can you send me some information of your project with the Tornado?

Its pretty risky, but you can pull a couple pounds of foam blocks out of the Hobie 14 hulls by disolving them with acetone. Pour it out immediately and neutralize any remaining acetone with ? This was done with mixed results in the seventies (by my reconing, 100 pounds ago!) You might save another pound or two with synthetic shrouds and lacing blocks. Or you might lose weight. naaahh, forget that.
