Oops, I didn't realize that this thread is 4 years old -- probably too late to get the info requested. Oh well, at least I tried ... :)

Hi Bill, Welcome to the forum.

Actually, boats do have floors. They just aren't what landlubbers think of when floors are mentioned. Boats also have soles in this same category but they are not on shoes.:D

Tony, my name is Chris and in the summer of 1990 I went with my father to New Port Richey just north of Mile Stretch on US 19 to pick up his 29' Sea-Sled with twin Suzuki 150's and stopped at Nick's Park on the way home to go out the chanel and back. What an incredibley proforming vessel, He used the boat we named Scuba-Doo for dive charters untill the fall of 1995 when he made a stop after picking up the boat from Weeki Wachee Marina having refreshed the motors and needed two stroke oil. When my father came out everything was gone! The truck was found two days later in Holiday, FL. with the ignition busted. I'll scan the pictures and post them soon, Thank You for the information I never realized the history behind the vessel!

    Stolen Sea sled

    Hi Chris
That is a sad end to a succesful Sea Sled story, I wondered if you bought the Cuddy cabin model or the boat with a tuna tower off a guy from Newport Richey. she was built in The New York factory out of Kevlar, and Epoxy, vacuum bagged. That was a real lunatic . I was in the Islands by that
time and she came down for Million Dollar Month to Cayman. (blue Marlin Fishing)
My condolences for your loss Any images of the boat would be appreciated
    Tony

I'm goimng to ask a really dumb question here...

These boats seem to have an almost cult-like following around here. What's the attraction?

    Sea Sled

    Hi
You are right ,there is a lot of interest in trying to get one to run succesfully.Boston Whaler began its production design from the Sea Sled idea, though I am quick to add Whalers are a design apart .
    Try these to start

Mystic Seaport has several smaller Hickman Sea Sleds built by Hickman Company in the 1920's. They are described in "Mystic Seaport Watercraft" which is available online at http://library.mysticseaport.org/initiative/Impage.cfm?PageNum=1&bibid=36560&ChapterId=1

The specific pages with the Sea Sled photos and descriptions are at:
