Nice link - and if that was your work, great job!

I especially like the Boat companies of yesterday section. I still love Aronow and it was interesting to remember some of the others and see the vintage ads!

It is the work of our New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club president, Dave Patnauade. He did a great job on that...

    Sharky,

Thanks for the link to Dave's site. Tried to email him, but AOHell bounced it back as an unknown user... (Dave Patnaude <atnjppc@aol.com>)

Figured I'd post it here and maybe you can point him to it... Best regards, Patrick

    Dave,

Found your excellent offshore racing website through a link by Sharky on the BoatDesign.net forum. Very interesting reading and good classic images. You've done a great job!

While I can not profess to being a real fan of offshore racing, I do follow it with some interest when circumstances prevail. Seems that you may be lacking one important piece of history though...

Arguably, one of, (if not "THE"), boat designer/builder responsible for the design and future of the modern deep-V planning hull was C. Raymond Hunt, and in partnership with Richard Bertram, the Bertram 31 literally set the stage for all offshore speed merchants in 1960. The Miami-Nassau Powerboat Race... ( http://bertram31.com/history.htm &
    http://bertram31.com/ray_hunt.htm )

While Dick Bertram went on to pursue the design and development of Sportfishing boats and later even a line of motor yachts, it would seem fitting to have these two Legends along with their Bertram 31 mentioned within your chronicles.

Today Bertram Yachts is owned by Norberto Ferretti and the Bertram Legend is being revived with great care and attention to quality & detail. Norberto is, before all, a consummate boatbuilder himself and quite renown for his offshore Ferretti Racing Team. Yup, he owns a Silver Anniversary Edition Bertram 31 Flybridge Cruiser too... Best regards,

    Capt. Patrick McCrary
