    ThomD.
You might contact Rick Steeves, the owner of Noahs Marine Supplies, in TO.
His phone # is (416) 232 0522. He owns a much modified Buc 24 and might be able to help you. He doesn't sell sails but is very informative.
Tell him Patrick McGrath referred you to him as he might be able to help.
Around October 15th is when all the sailboats are hoisted out of the water in TO, so the sail lofts may be inclined to "Sharpen their pencils" on sail prices during te next few months. Worth a try. :D

Thanks for the performance information Samnz and Oldsailor7, I guess it performs
as well as anything out there, I'm still worried about the draft. OS7, would a centre
board be feasable ? I still remember cutting out 'locking pins' from my old rudder
after plouging through submerged sand banks. Iwould much prefer if everything just
    'popped up' W/Rat.

The best way is to have the top of the rudder stock shaped to a semi circle, with a groove around the top. Two lines epoxied into drilled holes 180deg apart to be the Up and Down lines, passing over the tramsom into plastic jam cleats. Holds the rudder firmly down ---but allows kick up if striking anything immovable (such as a Turtle. Lol.) :D

Also a centreboard pivotting the same way, with the lines passing up a PVC tube immediately behind the mast step and the two lines passing thru a double block, leading back accross the cabin top to jam cleats at the forward edge of the cockpit. The centreboard case can then be "Hidden" in the front of the cabin bench seat.

Worked well for me on my Buccaneer 28.

You had best go to a sail loft and ask that question. It's rather like asking "How long is a piece of string." :D

No, seriously, it can be anything from a plastic sheet, to a perforated material or netting. Just don't use cotton netting,

    Foam/Glass Amas

Besides the extra time and cost, would there be any issues to making the amas foam/glass instead of ply? Mainly to help with setup, since my boys are still pretty small and won't be able to lift that much; and I plan on building something much bigger...some day, and I'd like to start gathering tools and learning how to glass.

    Folding or sliding options?

Other than foam/glass amas, has anyone tried folding or sliding amas? I've seen some simple designs, such as the striker 18, and though the aesthetics leave much to be desired, it seems like it would speed up 'single-handed' setup considerably.

    Folding amas

What do you think about this style of folding? I'm looking around for an example of 'sliding amas' that fold horizontally back towards the transom. I'll post a pic when I find one. My only concern of course, is structural integrity, but I have no engineering abilities to test this out.

    Sliding amas on Seaclipper

Thes are from Jim Brown's Seaclipper series. I'm not a fan of the aesthetics and I'm not sure how much of a load 2x6 boards could take, but it gives me an idea for a carbon/glass box that pivots behind a large tongue that slides into a groove in the beam mounts. A locking bolt is then passed through the beam and meam mounts when extended. I'll try to scan a small sketch of my idea. I'm plit right now between the Bucc 24 and Nicky Cruz 7.6, but if I can find a way to make the Nicky Cruz folding, sliding, or demountable, I'll probably go with the NC.
