    Hi All-
I am new here but not to boats. I want to build a SOF Kayak but I have never done any thing like this before. I do not have the room to do this project at my location. Does any one know of any classes out there? I live in NJ, and I am will to travel to NY (near the city). Or if some who is building one can accomidate another build along side that would work, too.
    Thanks!

Check out Tuktu Paddles. They are in Oceanville, NJ, about 15 miles from Atlantic City. They do classes, although their schedule looks empty for now. They may be able to help.

I have a friend in Mass. that builds them and does classes. Is that too far for you?

I haven't built one yet but a friend has built several and I understand a SOF Kayak is not a difficult build. Do you have a design and/or plans? If you have boatbuilding experience I can't see why you would need classes. There are SOF blogs that you can read; the only part that is different from all-wood boatbuilding is applying, ironing and coating the skin, which varies depending on which material you use.

    There's a lot of infomation at http://www.kayakforum.com/index.shtml
