different resins?

What about different types of resins for laminating beside polyester, vinylester, and epoxy.

There is a company, http://www.astsurf.com/index.htm , that is marketing a resin for the surf board industry that they say has no styrene but is also not an epoxy. I beleive that they are saying that it is a polyurethane resin.

It seems like it's well suited for flexible surfboards. I'm not sure it will be any better than epoxy for stiffer boat hulls.

 

quite interesting, seems to be a step under epoxy in mechanical properties, except for impact resistance, but about 30% cheaper, although there is not a clear datashhet in their site. The main questions is: what is it??? i mean they tell not even one word about chemical features of the resin; i find hard to believe that it's a whole new product, restricted to surfboard production; if you consider that resins have been developed in the least 50 years by some of the biggest chemical industries worldwide, and they're involved in almost every industrial field, from housebuilding to aerospace industry, cars boats, and so on, it seems unbelievable that such a good prduct has been created just to make surfboards!!!
