this boat was given to me, it was an empty hull when i got it. its very small, was originally a jet boat. the previous owner got it for free also but he said it came from califonia, and was a former race boat. thats all the info i have, iv searched everywhere and cannot find anything like it. its a very well built and designed boat. does anyone know what it is? im planning on putting a jet ski motor/pump in it, since i have no idea what it originally had. i can take more pics if it will help in the identification. thanks!

looks like somebody took out the jet and prepaired it for an outboard ..why not try a 15 hp ..cheap simple like these...

Looks to me like it won a competition entitled "design the worst jet boat hull in the world" Sorry, but pistonbroke is right put an outboard on it ,it will be ok with that.

unfortunately the transom is leaning the wrong way for an outboard. If you go that route your definately going to need a wedge to get the right angle on the motor.

I think the transom is vertical so a neat ply wedge on the inside and one on the outside will sort it out and strengthen the whole thing ..big whale tail also required..to try it you only need the ob and use the steering handle ..if its ok cable steering comes later

i was the one who patched it. that was my original plan, to put an outboard on it. i tried it with a small outboard, and found out theres no way it would work unless you used a 15-20hp short shaft. outboards are heavy and this boat is extremely light, with the outboard on the back and me in it the boat was nose high, and the water line when the boat sat in the water was only about an inch down the side in the back. granted i never had it on plane because of the long shaft motor i had. short shaft outboards are also expensive. i found a jet ski locally that had a trashed hull but otherwise complete with a good running Kawasaki 440 motor and pump. the little 2 stroke is allot lighter than the little outboard i had, and makes allot more power. and with the length of the motor, shaft and pump, the motor will be toward the middle of the boat, balancing the weight better. as far as hull design, what makes this a bad jet boat? iv worked for a couple of local aluminum jet boat builders, one of which built jet sprint race boats that had similar hulls to this.

Hey Logan, You got a pretty sweet little poject there that looks like it will be a lot of fun
Below is a link to some Glen L Design boats that may be the maker your boat came from, or where the kit came from. I have an 8' Tiny Titan 3 point hydro I previously had a 10 horse Johnson on but am converting it to a jet with the downer set up coming from a 428 wet jet seado. This is my first post as a newbie to the site so not sure how to attach photos yet but get back to me if interested and I'll send some photos of my project that may give you some ideas. Balance is way better with the motor moved forward and it has a lower center of gravity, which is another plus.

awesome! i didn't end up getting the 440 motor. but i just bought a '97 sea doo gts with a 720 rotax engine in it. so that will be my donner. the problem is that the boat is so small, there wont be anywhere for me to sit, unless i extend the back some how, so i can hang the pump off the back. I'm not sure how I'm gonna make it work, but il figure it out. il post some pics. I'm definitely interested in seeing how yours works out. the drive shaft looks really long... whats your plan?

lol, well it weighs about 50 lbs. but the weight will be pretty centered instead of hanging off the back. plus that motor is rated at 85hp, so power to weight ratio is amazing considering an 85hp outboard would weigh like 200 lbs. realistically if all works out well (allot of work), it should do around 50 mph. which is going to be totally scary in that boat.

Why you don't make an extension for the turbine unit so it sits outside the box  leaves you space to sit btw the engine and the pump.. have an armoured shield to protect ya groins if (when) the shaft breaks ;)

thats a good idea, only thing is it would put the motor under the bow, which would be pretty hard to get too (and would involve allot more tubing to route the exhaust). and id have to sit on top on the drive shaft, which would mean i would sit higher, and i barely fit in the boat now. but i dunno.. everything is gonna be i tight fit no matter what i do
