Yes. Though I foresee that a rigid diet and bodymass loss program will be necessary for the crew. I am aiming at the chinese market, so it will be less severe than it might seem.

I have closely watched the terminology shift quite a bit as we've played in the stabilization of yachts. Two decades ago..the yachts in the 130-140 foot range were all megayachts and some as tiny and dirt cheap as an 80-footer that cost a paltry 2 million bucks or so was still let in the 'megayacht' crowd on occasion.

Those days are long gone. If you have less than 10 million to spend on your boat and its an inch less than 150' LOA, do not even begin to think you can credibly call yr little skiff a megayacht. But calling it a yacht is acceptable.

But there is the new gigayacht term. Now we are talking about the many that cost over 100 million..and are over about 80
    meters
in length. Although..based on some we've seen recently, the ceiling may be raised to 250 million and 100 meters LOA as a threshhold. Have to keep the riffraff out of the club, you know.

haha thats cool. is that even possible to that size for a million yachts ratio. what will the LOA be? miless hahaha
that will totally be problem free if it went through somali waters. security members will be like a whole battalion of ppl for the whole yacht. the whole of main deck could be used for several airports. daaymmmnnn :p

    For a start.....................

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

Inlet is on one side, propulsion is on the other side, so it will go round in circles.

    PS - that's called into question, read this thread to learn more . . . . . .

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

After she is tired of that she can build a double engine with the engines mirrored so the boat will go strait.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

This one needs a double engine too..!!

    PS - This boat is OK . . :)
Didn't pay attention to the twin keels with integrated rudders (fixed?) and overlooked the high-efficiency exhaust nozzles, improved burner & condensor, etc. etc.

Give her my Best Regards and say on my behalf I wish her Good Luck with This Project..!!

‘NA me’ sorry for the Pop-Pop hijack on your Megayacht thread, please let us to help Vulkyn's niece here!

Where does a megayacht project start?

Doesn't sound like your ready to design a megayacht. Don't feel bad, I'm not either. Maybe you have the money and are looking for information on beginning the process of purchasing a megayacht? If that's the case, I would state the question a little differently.

To answer the question directly, I would say it starts in your head, then moves outward from there to Megayacht Boat Designers and Megayacht Boat Builders, or, any other variation along those lines. Maybe even BoatDesign.net like you are doing.

    With the keel?

The original use of the prefix mega meant big, large or huge as in megalith or megalomania.

If we use the 10^6 definition on a logarithmic scale it would be closer to reality or use the smaller divisions of deca-, hecto- or kilo-. :)

Given marketing hype, the salesmen are happy with the 1,000,000 impression.

I once owned a pop pop boat but the thin metal of the boiler rusted through.

I can officially say a new thread will pop up some where soon on a pop pop powered hybrid concrete boat (well maybe sub even!!)....

And i guess it fits in Mega category if you have to fit this engine to it !

That looks like an Origami design, have you thought of building it full size in steel? :D
