    Dear Alik & Apex,

Austria has the largest market share of electric powered boats in the world. It comes as a no brainer that there are more companies building electric boats and electric propulsion here (including switzerland and bavaria) than anywhere else. The market is by now better known than anywhere else. As one of Austrias largest dealers for electric propulsion I can assure you that an electric catamaran has been tried before and is sensible but not sellable. The market here is mature enough that fortunately a lot of guesswork can be taken out of the equation. I'm getting a bit carried away but back to the point:
It's not the NA's job to guess what the market demands.
We're dealer's. We see a market demand, imagine a solution, check possibility and go for it (or not).

    Dear daiquiri,
Does this suiffice as an SOR:
    in order of importance:
    - classical appearance (like a 70's Riva or a Boesch) or alternatively a retro design like Bo Zolland design
    - very stable while docked or at anchor
    - steering wheel
    - min. 2 seats (side-by-side)
    - as fast and thrilling as possible (planning ability with one person max 80kg for brochures and videos)
    - sunbathing platform
    - bimini

    - powered by torqeedo Cruise 4.0R with LiFe batteries.
    - used on lakes and rivers with max wave height of 20cm

    The question still remains unanswered.
How do we find the right naval architect for such a job. Or any job for that matter. Is there anywhere some sort of classified or bulletin board where people post what kind of jobs they have and NA can send offers or do you have to contact a handful of NA and hope for the best. How does this work?

VY, start with creating a new thread and call it "New electric boat design required" or something similar. Post the list of required features as you did in your previous post here, and give your contact address (e-mail will do). Make your required features feasable. Similar requests usually get a number of replies in this forum - some from potential designers, some from people who will give you a phone number to call or other hints.

This should be understated, but - behave well and be honest (I am sure you are). If you like a particular design but don't like or feel confident with the designer, don't take the idea to another guy's office. If someone sends you a proposal, he is showing his trust in you - so make it worth it. Sorry if it sounds obvious and don't get offended if I'm telling you this. Nasty things happen in this world, sometimes. ;)

    Cheers and good luck!

    It did work already!

You have found at least two, playing with your SOR. Ok, one refused to go further, the other one is still here.
The fact, that not more of our rather skilled NA´s replied to this thread, shows, they are not attracted.
Be sure almost all of them have seen the thread!

If I was in your shoes, I would rather go with one who is sceptic to the very extend than with one who gets enthusiastic.
One is in danger to make a too willing designer become just a vicarious agent.
The result is, that YOUR ideas become reality to some extend, and not the best compromise possible.

    All clear?;)

    Dear Richard,
Do you mean yourself by "the other one"?

Oh no, I am a boatbuilder, no NA.

    I meant Daiquiri.

    Regards

From what I understand daiquiri is an aerospace engineer and not a NA. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

The only NA I could identify in this thread are HJS and Alik, the later one being specialised in multihulls. - But again, I may be wrong.

Yes, I have a degree in aerospace engineering.
If you are looking for a person with a formal training in naval architecture, then the names you could contact are, apart the two you have mentioned, Ad Hoc and Eric Sponberg.

    Don´t be too humble Slavi.

As I said above, almost all of our designers/NA´s have seen this thread, no doubt. So, my guess is, they are not attracted to be involved, like Alik.

Not really, doing all feasible craft from motoryachts to interceptors, from racing sailboats to small commercial fishing boats :)

Not only that but you seem to speak math like a second language. There are very few people who can explain math so eloquently.

Thank you for your kind words. I'm just trying to help as much as I can and as much as time constraints permit me to.
    Cheers!

I guess most of us memebers do or try to. Finding time is sometimes the problem.
