    Hi to all,

I would like to ask you if anyone have any experience with CFD software like Ansys CFX or STAR-CCM+ for solving hull hydrostatics and hydrodynamics.
I have some experience with Ansys CFX and Fluent so I prefer these two but it seems that I'm not able to solve what I need (6DOF, multiphase, remeshing, etc.)

    Thank you.

I've heard that it's possible to make geometry optimisation with fluent, local remeshing and such stuff ... But I don't know how to do that ...

P.S: Probably you can define functions in fluent or some kind of macros, but I really don't know how exacly you can do that

Thank you. I already ask guys from Ansys for some tutorials for Fluent. It can be solved but there is better (and easier) way. Star-CCM+ (my opinion).
    Anyway thanks.

it s better to use STAR-CCM+ in cases you want to solve 6DOF problems. I think when you use this software for solving 6DOF problems, even you don t need to remesh.and it s a big advantage of STAR-CCM+ comparing to ANSYS or Fuent

Thank you. I already spoke with some peoples from cd-adapco and it look's great. I think that this is the perfect solution for me.
    Thanks anyway

May I take your advice guys? I need a powerful CFD solution to solve 6DOF problems, but I DO need the simple one. I m not really good at programming to write any macro or user function. thank you guys.

Fluidyn-MP is a general numerical platform for the simulation of fluid structure interactions and coupling. fluidyn-MP simultaneously calculates heat conduction and mechanical stress, in structures and flow and heat convection in the fluids in contact. It can also simulate vibratory - acoustics or pressure fluctuations.

But does it handle surface-piercing ships and, most importantly, are there comparisons of predictions with measured values of resistance, wake velocities etc?

Does it work on PCs or only on clusters of workstations?

    Look forward to hearing more,
    Leo.
