How Many Boats should you Own?

I think the answer to the OP is:

"More than zero"

As to all these skis, you really do have every type! I even see some shape skis hanging up in the left corner of the picture. Where are the snowboards??

 

lets see, we have only six, and I have ambitions to build/buy/restore quite a few more.

I think 50 is about the right number to own. Since you are married and she says one, I say compromise and average out at only 25.

That is the problem with staying married, you have to make compromises.

 

We have two sloop, a ketch, 3 tenders. The wife can't say no to a cute wood boat. Of course she helps with the care.... willingly
She would rather I had too many boats than too many wives. I will accept stoically which ever fate befalls me

 

So it seems one of the more important design flaws / compromises would be how the woman is fitted in the boat.

Can't really have too many boats (how can you ?) and it seems you can't have too many wiemen either

Especially if the one doesn't fit all the boats.

Boats are like wives, you should have as many as you can afford, but even one can be very expensive and problematic.

 

Actually, I try to get them to afford me
on topic, caring for a boat is like caring for a child, neglect can lead to bigger problems down the road. Very few people have just 1 child. Very few boat owners I know have only one boat.

 

My Ex got one, so I'm down to 5, 2 are inflatables so they are out of sight, out of mind.
While I have 2 motorcycles, I only have one truck, not counting the JD tractor and I'm down to one car. I have found that down sizing a wife is easier!

Now I know what to do with that broken weed eater!

Take you wife out on each boat, get into areas or situations the other boats won't work in and try to explain it to her, that one boat won't do all things both of you like to do! LOL

I'm down to 7, finally. 4 are my build, 3 of my design. Fanie, is that a concrete sub?

 

I only have one boat......
that can carry a person, and is mine, and that works.
I'm not counting the test models (they can't carry people) or the cottage fleet (family boats) of one canoe, one sailboard, one Sunfish, three (I think, depends on the aggressiveness of the mice) PVC dinghies, a Contour pedalboat, a 14' aluminum skiff, a 19' runabout, and assorted towables. And I'm not counting the trimaran, since I haven't started building its hulls yet, and it's just a hypothetical boat (or a lot of well-hidden boat parts) until then.

 

I think we have three boats before we build some kayaks this winter:

1) This 20 feet motor launch or "snekke" as it's called here, used to transport folks and stuff to and from our summer island hut,


2) This old 16 feet "KNS Jolle", a sailing dinghy that can also be rowed,


3) This "sportsboat" sailor that has been "almost ready" for five years now...

The shaped skis are for the kids, 6 and 8 years old now.
I think skis and boats these days often are to wide...
