Try entering a string of 8's, then enter... This should put the radio into Factory Test Mode.... Once in Test Mode, you should be able to enter ANY Simplex Frequency that is inside the VCO Lock Range and have it work. I haven't messed with a 222 in years but it works on my 230's, 330's 325's ect... and I seem to remember using it, way back when, to program in Ham Frequencies, when setting up Antenna Tuners.

    Bruce in alaska....

    Here's a basic guide.

If you enter the frequecy directly (no need to push the Tx mike button by the way) then its RX only.

For Tx frequecies they have to be an allocated channel.

With the U.S. version, you would normally program a scratchpad memory channel for receive/transmit use. You get into that mode by pressing all 8's. If you just want to use a particular frequency for receive AND transmit without programming a channel, enter the numbers and hold the mic key before pressing ENT.

    Hi.,
Have just been searching for help on our SSB SEA222, it was working brilliantly and then just started flashing UNLOCK., cannot receive/transmit. From what I can gather the set needs servicing, is this correct? anyone know anyone based in Panama (Balboa) that can help, or even shipping to USA.
    (Manual gives no help/indication)
    Thanks
    Jackie onboard Pyewacket.
