    49 cc kill switch

    For those people have built the weed wacker motors out of the 49cc motors, the two wires coming out of the top of the motor are the kill switch correct? I almost have my motor complete. I just wanted to make sure that I had it correct...

    honestly i want to build my own. but this seventy pages of forum is just mind blocking me. i Need a list of parts and instructions and i would be more than happy to build one

    If you carnt figure it out from this post then you would be better to Google " Mud Motors " and go buy one with a warrentee

    Wow massive thread. Did anyone figure out an easy and cheap way to adapt a shaft onto the 50cc scooter engine and gearbox? Does anyone know the HP of these scooter engines?

    What about this brushcutter? Its 52cc and they claim 3.5hp @ 8000rpm! Would this be a good candidate for direct drive? I want to use it for a lightweight yacht tender mounted more like a conventional outboard than a longtail.

    no brushcutter is GOOD for this purpose due to the high rpm BUT they can be made to work if the prop is right.....the one you are looking at has a gearbox in the head which some have retained .........best get a bigger motor 100cc and use a chain drive to get the revs down...there is no substitue for cubes.....as the septic tanks say

    If your desire is to build a lightweight motor (under 20 lbs) the ONLY way you are going to do it is with a direct drive unit made with a small motor like a 52cc scooter engine. If you don't mind the weight, do as pistonbroke suggests and build one with a chain drive and a bigger motor. Only you know what will work for you. Me, I can't have the weight and the smaller motor works perfectly well.
