    Yes, this was the type of boat that made oilskins popular. Low freeboard means less aerodynamic drag, easy slack lines mean easily driven to wave-making hull speed which means a fast fun wet boat. A buddy owned one in the 70s and he said it would soak you in 5 knot breeze.... though he did live aboard for five years so it must not have been too bad.
