wellydeckhand: You keep on whinning and crying about how everyone discriminates against you for being "oriental". If you hadn't mentioned your ethnicity, no one would be able to tell. The forum makes you anonimous. Your shortcomings and paranoia are not a reflection of the rest of the world.

    ahah,
    I see,
this is like the N word, you can only say it if your black.
    I can't, because I am not.
    I can however say Wog.
    Because I am part Italian.

That is how this sort of thing works isn't it???

Got it in one! Nothing like a bit of discrimination to get everyone going -tell me is it discriminatory to support a sports team after all the other guy chants different words and wears a differente coloured shirt?

Years ago I purchased the Tom Thumb blueprints but never built the boat. Then I purchased the Offshore 38 plans, built it (actually by a yard in NZ) and circumnavigated with it. When It came time to a larger boat I contacted Bruce Roberts in Spain, my phone got the forwarded number or something after leaving a message. I dealt with Bruce Roberts himself. I asked about a custom design. He agreed, said send him a check to start. I sent the check, it was cleared, I also sent the outline etc for the new boat...he said get back to him in 60 days, and or he would have something before then. I failed to connect with him as his message said he was "on vacation"....after 90 days I finally got him on the phone....he had not started the work and said he wouldn't until I paid him, and for me to send him a check. I refused to play the game and demanded a refund and after 30 days heard nothing, so I then threatened to sue and sent the copy of the cashed check. He returned the advance. I have never dealt with anyone other than him directly.....I will not comment on his personality but I think he has let his personal problems affect his business.

I would also recommend Dudley Dix. I have two of his designs in build for sons. Dix has visited my home in Maryland and was a quite personable fellow....and his wife is a nice person also.

You are a litlle tle hard on Wellydeckhand. He has some good justification for being taken like sucker by Robert. And it is well documented
If it happens to you in a other culture you will have acted the same, and you will not have like a post like yours.
it is borderline cruel to treat someone like this:
Now if you can post somthing to help him or to contibue to the thread, go ahead, it will be nice to read.
