I'd have to have it large enough to fit me so the atkins would simply have to be a bit larger in order to accommodate that
10% increase over all would do it
the deckhouse roof is begging to extend aft and in the rainy northwest it just seems a lot more practical than a bimini
cant posibly add that much weight to the whole show and the increased in dimension might require some extra weight anyway
swapping the floor plans forward for the galley also seems like the thing to do as I greatly prefer to have seating in the sunniest part of the boat and not be down in the dungeon any longer than to wip up some food

anyway I have it on good authority that I can simply increase the frame spacing by 10 to 15% as desired and get the required extra length without really having to re-engineer everything http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/boat-design/scaleing-15941-2.html Post4

extending the cabin roof and swapping a few things around just doesn't seem like any big deal

I can see what your talking about in terms of twist and slowly whittling that chine log into shape. That as compared to stringers over bulk heads is no real comparison in terms of difficulty.

if it costs me a few bucks to make that happen so be it but the present dimensions simply don't fit me at 6'1"+

Good idea, but some are realy difficult to built, and the plans are very confusing.
Great man, great designer, don't make me wrong, but I saw the difficulty in the building with my own eye.

If I remember the Benford top heavy coasters had a slight sinking problem

I liked some of Bill Garden's stuff but a comprehensive picture library was not available so perusing his designs is difficult

still waiting on Tad (must have found himself a new girlfriend )

meanwhile Ill go check out some Alden designs

    Boston:

It doesn't sound like you've heard back from Tad yet. You can go to this link to see drawings of the interior layouts for Yellow Cedar: http://www.riddleboatworks.net/powerboats.php[/URL]. Click on "Next Screen" at the bottom right of the page to see individual designs and keep clicking until you get to Yellow Cedar, then click in the middle of the page to see additional drawings of that design.

Let me know if you want me to send you the files that you can zoom on to see better detail.

You'll still go to Tad for the plans - I'm just offering the design as a potential custom build.

    Tad Boat Designer

Well I see Boston has come to his sense's.....;) If the wish to build a boat is at all sensible....which it isn't.......

I've been busy the last few days doing this.....see http://www.salmonaresacred.org/

Here is the original Yellow Cedar arrangement drawing.....

    View attachment Tad Roberts -12.pdf

And an alternative double cabin version.....

And the Memory brochure showing their as built arrangement....which I found to work very well....the seat/berth forward of the helm extends under the head counter.

I'll never be accused of being sensible Tad
I once had 27 horses out at the old ranch, spent most of my time just trying to keep em all rode. Ok not all of them were mine and I made a few bucks training but I had them jammed in like sardines. had a whole fleet of cars at one point as well.
I need something to keep me out of trouble now that Im working again so a boat is actually acting conservatively at least for me.
still a hole in the water to throw money into but, well, its going to be only one hole and a nice one to boot

let me take a few days going over your prints and I'll get back to you

    cheers
    B

    PS
interesting cause they have going there
I know among my native friends from that area Salmon are a huge part of the diet and they seem to hold it in particular hi regard at various festivities and special days. I dont pry much into there beliefs other than when Im invited to be at a particular ceremony but that has been few and far between down her in the states. All I need to know I suppose is that they are nice enough to invite and me and explain a few things about what is going on, other than that I just keep my mouth shut (imagine that it you can) and enjoy having been invited. I am embarrassed to say I dont remember all the various tribal names but it seems like everyone I know here is from a different tribe and they dont really care other than to get together and have a few beers.

anyway nice to see you were having some constructive fun
    cheers

    side note
There is almost a sick sense of relief in the decision to just buy a set of prints. Something about admitting ones limitations I guess, something Im not particularly good at.

Maybe not so much about limitations, but maybe having other stuff to do.
Spending time on the most worthy of things (making $)

But at least,it was keeping your mind busy and a good exercise trying to figure stuff out.
And at most you learned a lot-be that tangible or intangible. The neat thing is it may take a while to figure out what the intangibles were.

I'd never even try to design (beyond cursory styling drawings) or build a boat-it's not worth my time.

well I did learn a lot, just not enough to put it all together into a specific form for a specific water

I want to be able to sneak up and down just about any coast I suppose and hopefully make just about any island, take a licking and keep on ticking so to speak

tads boat looks great but Im not so sure how she would do 30 or 40 miles off shore
seems those tall bodied round bilges designs have a habit of bad motion in a sea way

    stabilizers?
not so sure I want to go that high tec

one big deciding factor will be the very simple question "how far offshore can I venture in that thing, and still not look like a complete idiot to the coast guard"

    ps
    market hemorrhaged today
wish like hell I had gone all in short

    oh well

I'm semi retired, but dabble in the eminis (ES/Dow) to stay on things...spent the day on the boat and missed.
Can never know when unexpected big stuff is gonna start.
    Oh well,it was sunny.

Tad calls it "passagemaker lite"...else he'd label it "coastalcruiser lite"

Stabilizers, well, throw the fish in the water-no cables, use rods.

Im looking at the Yellow Cedar design not the passage-maker lite

among other things I think the size was getting away from me as well so Im trying to stay under 40'
