Well, we went to Rainbow Springs State Park today and on the way heard about Goldman Sucks being charged by the SEC at which point in time the dog puked all over the back seat of the rice burner.:p

Mostly I got to watch the rain fall all day. It quit for awhile and I put some rubbing compound on the ole boat and hit it with the 7" polisher. Was about 20 mins into that task when I realized "You can't polish a turd"! :p

Made up a batch of killer Nacho's! *burp* Now I've got indigestion. Too many Jalapeno's! :(

One of Jacques Mertens designed TW28's recently launched in Turkey. Here's a short vid of it underway....

After hearing the recordings of energy traders laughing as they cheerfully manipulated electricity supplies to screw Californians back during the deregulation fiasco, it's hard to surprise me by showing me a business preying on the public. But I'll admit the Goldman Sachs thing shows a lot of chutzpah, even for a bunch of arrogant bankers.

I was "sent to coventry", for "behaviour unbecoming" again, - must be the male chauvinist pig, part of my personality coming out... - Or is it that I am no less than a "grumpy old *******, growing old disgracefully in senility?" - I am starting to appreciate and like what one old codger I knew used to say about things he did not like - - - - "...Shoot the barsterds...".............................................

Not having a printer that I could attach that had effective drivers so I could readily print using Linux OS I spent several hours searching on the net, and many options not wanting to load, till eventually I tried HP, and although feigning to not support such in publications, found that they actually do, and quite well...

There is an installation application package that is downloaded and executed in the "dreaded text mode" where command instructions are issued, and in typical Linux fashion (Ubuntu 9.10 as per the assessment of the installation package from HP), - plug everything in, turn it on and run the installation... and as the 'French lass' selling "Budget-direct insurance on TV - "...Walla - everything is working beautifly..." - Printer is a ColorSphere (******* could never spell - it is "colour"...), LaserJet CP1215...

Now I gotta figure out how to 'fade the colours' a little bit as images come out far too intense and the installation did not add any of those little interface apps to adjust colour drivers in the printer...

The domestic computers for the boat are now almost ready, needing just a little tweaking, so I can scan for active 802.11G access points for "free access" adjacent to the newer hotels along the beach-front so I can continue with internet access :D :D

Have a look at my boat build progress, I am mightily pleased at the present but to see the images, one must register and log, in then - http://boats-n-stuff.com.au/forum/index.php/topic,2.150.html - is where you will find progress reports...

    Have a good weekend...

Yes. Enron was there, right along with the other sharks -- maybe even leading them.

Every time I hear some idiot tell us that government regulation is inherently evil, and that if we just get rid of it some sort of magic 'market forces' will keep the barstads honest and save us all tons of money, I get an urge to hold him down and watch him turn colors while I choke him. But I'd have to do it one-handed, because the other hand needs to be in my pocket hanging onto my wallet....

I've seen what happened over the years with deregulating telephone service, cable TV, savings and loans, electricity, etc. Every effing time, companies in the deregulated field went on a feeding frenzy.

Get the sharks out of Congress, no matter which way they circle and put some guppies in their place.

Wynand very very sorry to hear about the knee and the fact that you decided to sell your boat, I know that this comes at a **** time.

I got down to some boat building on Saturday in vd Bijl Park

Jules lives about 2 hours away from me by car, so you guys will understand that it is not that easy to get there, and when I do get there we obviously have to cover as much as possible in a day. Anyway I went down Saturday early and we got stuck into a sort of training session for the day - coverring all aspects of epoxy. I set up his "laboratory" for him and we went thru the whole process of laying down really good fillets. I used the "cake decorators" plastic bag tecnique, with excellent results. Then we went thru the whole process of saturating the 750 gm tri-ax glass, and the importance of peelply and then my "invention" of putting a layer of waxed paper over to really roll the layup down flat and smooth. The end result is that once the peelply comes of with the "blush" there is ABSOLUTELY NO SANDING necessary, you can paint straight away.

Long and busy day, but very rewarding.

Wynand, I hope your boat brings you a good price. I hope the knee is better soon and you will find another boat that you can enjoy.

    All the best,

I ended up getting a chance to chat with Marina Sirtis this weekend and she was as nice as she is lovely
I've been going to these dorky conventions for years now and I was sneaking into the auditorium through one of the stage entrances when I bumped into her for the second time. First was during a slow moment when she was signing autographs and there didn't seem to be anyone around, so I marched up and said hi and bla bla bla, she was really sweet and I made it a point to thank her for indulging us with her presence. She is one of those kinda folks who really appreciates her fans and immediately said it is she who is grateful for us. She then went on to thank me for her house her car and even the snazzy new shoes she found somewhere down town. I asked if there was anything else I can get her and we had a nice laugh. I tried to talk her into a drink at the bar and suggested my friend ( who fortunately wasnt listening but really does look just like her ) would be happy to stand in for her but she declined ( darn, so close and yet so far )

    was a great time

its amazing how many of the science fiction movie actors show up at these things and just hang out
I've bumped into pretty much the entire cast of most of the star trek franchises at some point or another

I even mistook the real Kate Mulgrue for an impersonator a few years ago
mentioned how well she pulled off Janeway
in my own defense I might add there was a lot of alcohol involved in that one but still
we had a good laugh over it several times since

    oh Mas
ya my daughters into the whole thing and I try and be supportive as long as she is being good to herself
consequently her and her friends are always inviting me to come hang out with them and actually it was one of them that got me on down at the clubs bouncing from time to time

that girl who modeled the mantle for me is named Emily or M as she is more typically called and although she is thin as a rail is very pretty even if my skills as a photographer are sorely lacking

in the end I do know a whole bunch of the Goth types
nice kids mostly and always kind enough to invite me along

    Troy
    thanks
I always enjoy building furniture grade stuff and just cant wait to get started on the big boat build
I been meaning to run it past the group but I could build it modular and ship it in pieces
would help me get started faster and negate the need to buy land or rent a place for any extended period of time

Im sure there would be a few naysayers but its likely a few have done this and it would be interesting to here what there experience in this area is
I built a huge log gazebo this way a few years ago and it all fit together like a glove
that conservatory I also build modular and fit together on site
so I have some good experience with the technique
I'll need to figure out the sections ( where to break things ) but it might be doable
    maybe

ya she aged really gracefully, I'd say looks as good today as she did when she did the show.

Summer Glau was also there ( girl who played the terminator in T-2 or maybe it was T-3) I saw her at one of the parties but she turned out to be kinda boring, good looking as all hell but boring at a party. Christopher Judge was also there and as were a bunch of the stunt men and film crew. A few folks from the star wars movies and I think one or two from the Harry Potter series as well. Lots of near naked woman slathered in body paint and I even got handed some contact info by one of the roller derby girls although I gotta admit I'm a bit scared of a girl who beats up other girls for a living, she might turn on me or something :)

all in all it was a great time
