I am new to boating and purchased a 1985 IMP boat. On the boat it has the letters X210SC but I have searched all over the internet and have not been able to find this type of boat. All I have been able to find is a 1985 IMP X215 SC. Can someone clarify this to me as I cannot even find it on the NADA books under the models they have listed for this particular year. I want to start fixing it up and want to have the correct model to purchase parts. I have looked all over the boat and cannot find a plate with the boat information, any clues as to where I might find the plate?

I have a 1984 IMP X210SC. Get the hull number from the stern starboard side just under were the deck joins the hull. Probably just about center above the swim step. Then check your HID# here to verify it is what you think it is. I have a complete rebuild in progress right now. I don't mean to scare you but you might want to look at my site for a better look at what you are dealing with.

Here is just some of the info I have gathered since I started this rebuild. I have more. Email me directly @ series60@verizon.net and be sure to check the IMP forum here.

    IMP X215SC 228HP Chevy 305cu
    HIN: XMPL7346M84(yr built)K
    Model Year: 1984
    Certification Year: 1984 (June)
    Manufacturer: IMP BOATS
    Manufacturer City/State: IOLA KS
    Eng model: MCM 228
    228 HP 4 bbl 305ci
    Eng SN: 6811457

    IMP MARINE
    PO BOX 102
    IOLA, KS 66749

The original company was called Red Fish Boats in Kansas. In 1963 they were bought and renamed by the Iola Molded Plastics (IMP) and apparently were around by that name until some time when they were bought out by a Florida-based company called International Marine Products. That company did not last for too long before going out of business. This is the history according to others that know much more than and have been around longer than me.

Thank you for your asistance, I will check where you mentioned for the information I need. I do have the year and HID number as the boat is registered. The thing that is confusing me is that the boat is labeled X210SC but there are no records of IMP making a X210SC. I have located records mentioning the boat you purchased but not mine. I had already downloaded the history report from the site you mentioned and it did not contain any information as to the model for my boat. My question is if this is a special model given it is not the X200SC or the X215SC or is this considered a X215SC??? Also on your site you mentioned yours is a Cuddy Cabin is that the class of boat I own? I appreciate your time and help with this and for taking the time to help someone out who is new to this.

I just bought a 1970 23' IMP Inca, really like the boat, tested her out ran good but when we got to shore there was some transmission fluid and water mix coming out of the out drive. Having it worked on,pulled the motor and trans, looks like the trans cooler is good,so the mechanic is thinking either the boat had lot of water in it or the bellows did have a hole in it causing water to seep into the trans, any suggestions would be helpful, really like the boat, thanks

    83 IMP Inca

I own an 83 IMP Inca hardtop with cuddy. It is in excellent condition for this age boat. All upholstery is original and in great condition. Some very minor fiberglass scrapes on upper keel from loading and unloading on a very old trailer. My issue - the engine suddenly lost oil and froze up. Does anyone have a recommendation for rebuild or replacement of motor?

Kenworth/bhelton. Why don't y'all head over to www.impboatclub.com and check it out. Lots of good info over there, and people may be looking to wheel and deal. Dave (boatsmith) has lots of parts for sale as well.

Wow mperry. First, welcome to the board! Second, you gotta look at the dates. That post by grgoyle1229 was from back in 2005! Would be cool to know if it got fixed or junked though.

Do you have an IMP? If so, check out the IMP boat club at www.impboatclub.com

    Just got a '68

Hi everybody, my name's David. I just got my hands on a 1968 Imp, but I have no idea what model it is. What I do know is that it has a Chevy straight 6 and a Mecruiser outdrive. I'm going to have to pull the outdrive off to replace some seal and I'm going to have to rebuild the engine, but other than that the thing is in great shape. What can I do to find out the model that my boat is and where can I look to find a manual for the engine and outdrive?

Congrats on the new IMP David!

Can you post some photos of your new boat, engine, and drive?

With some photos, someone will be able to ID both the boat and the drive for you.

Hi Supadave01. If you head over to the impboatclub site, we can get you fixed up with all you need. Well, maybe not "all" you need, but we got some pretty knowledgeable folks there that are ready and willing to help you out.

    Congratulations on the new boat.
