:) Anyone out there own a Noelex 25? If so I'm keen to develop a discussion forum relating to "One Design" aspects of this class and any modifications you think are good. This will hopefully be of benefit to other classes too. Currently on the table with our National Association in New Zealand are changes to the rules associated with maintaining a "One Design" N25. Over the 30 odd years the class has been going there have been some modifications done to most of the top boats that are within the rules, although some areas are grey. Rather than change the rules and make things totally inflexible it's my considered opinion that we should be looking at what owners have done to date, examine whether the boat actually sails better or not, and the costs of those modifications.

Some of the mods made include:

    1) rudder blade modifications by either forward cant of pivot or relocation of pivot hole / cutout of front face of blade where within the stock area; some blade re-builds and re-shaping

    2) minor adjustments (forward) to mast step position to reduce inherent "windward helm"

    3) Sealing the keel slot to stop hydro-dynamic cavitation between the hull & keel

    4) Modifying the self-tacking jib traveler track alignment to match the jib arc & allow proper trimming without uneven loads being applied to leach/foot

    5) Outboard Motor changes and well plug draining initiatives

    6) Active (adjustable) tack on jib and / or cunningham control

    7) Re-modelling of Anchor Well to accommodate spinnaker

    8) Spinnaker pole configuration changes / materials

Hopefully we can get some discussion going
