    Hello,

I am new to this forum.
My name is Stan and I have been fooling around with freeship. I've looked at the unofficial tutorial online and I'll practice with that soon but what I really want to do is to lay out the lines of the fully rounded hull cruising sailboat that I've been working on in my head for a few years now. The tutorial is for a chine hull. Does freeship even do what I want? Or do I have to pay for that?

    All advice welcome.

If you open Freeship and go to <New> then in the pop-up window clock <OK> then save you create the attached file. Is that what you mean?

A "creased" edge can be altered to a soft edge or vice versa by using the edge tool.

There should be a manual available...depending on the version. What is your version? The manual for the last version by Martijn is available on Sourceforge along with older versions an another tutorial.

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/freeship/files/

The manuals are here...they apply to most common freeship functions regardless of recent versions.

Another new member. I'm Nate . I have been working on a design with the old paper and pencil for some time now and have competed a half hull. Now I would like to do the hard stuff and see how the numbers work . I have downloaded Freeship but can't get the tutorials to run and can't seem to get the downloads that would make them jump to life. Any ideas? How many hours of fooling around can I expect before I have some ability to do this without any initial skills? At this age (59) it's a little like pushing knowlege through mud. Thanks

Where did you get the program from? There are two versions of Freeship along with Delftship out there, so I need to know where you got it to help.

Thanks, I was looking around to see what was up with the buy it version on the web and found a thread here on boat design .net. I downloaded via a link within the comments. I was not able to get software "fuzzy bit map" or, fbm to download into my computer so that I could open the tutorials. I'm not so handy with this program stuff that I know how to negotiate my way around to get all I need here. I can open the freeship and and some notes but the fbm and dat files are zero. It seems simple enough to get those programs into my computer off the web, but not so. It seems like an idiot at the wheel problem. I'm the idiot. Thanks, Nate

Mr Meebles, Phil, Thanks, mcclavecantwell@aol.com would be the place. How long did it take before you had something looking like your boat hull on the screen?
