Pocket Cruiser

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has started building any of the pocket cruisers at 16 to 20ft. I have looked at Glen-L, Hartley boats, SBI Marine and the weekender. Has anyone had any experiences with these and why they choose a particular boat and time/costs it took ?

Personally the method of building is not that important to me, what is important is cost, plus living on Long Island near the water, I need something small to trailer and will fit in my yard to build and store (lets just say any bigger than 20 ft, then my wife is gonna...well you know).

I plan on just sailing it around these parts, would probably not be interested in overnighting, but may consider doing some fishing close to shore with two people on board (I need a designated driver !). I want to attach a small outbaord. I gotta a couple projects on the go now, so plan on starting it within the next 4 months to a year giving me time to research this further.

Any thoughts ?

With cost as an issue, check out the designs of Philip Bolger at Instant Boats or Jim Michalak at Duckworks Magazine

They are simple, basic, easy to build and inexpensive plywood craft.
