May be too late, since your benchtops are already cut, but I bent duflex through 180 degrees (router the glass off one side in a 45mm wide strip and it can bend over on itself) and had it laminexed at a kitchen place. Gives a nice round edge to the bench.

Looks very fine Alan, but my galley is UP:D:eek: and I have a 2 plate electric hob and no gorilla under... Your pride and joy looks close to launch... Congratulations...

I did see that your galley is up, but don't see that that prevents you from having rounded edges on benchtops.

Hi Alan, I just got a little eager in thinking that this was a tongue-in-cheek photo gift to be "my Galley" - getting even too lazy to delete / correct errors - - Oops:D:D:D - - well - I am just feeling comfortable and rather laid back:D

    Mas,

thanks for your time on my visit - although your saloon roof is yet to be started you are making noticable progress.

I think I saw Alan's 44C (without rig yet) looking great in the water at River Heads when I visited Bob Oram.

Bob certainly is a wealth of knowledge. The trip was well worthwhile. He has had his 40ft pod cat in the water for a while and it looked good at Urangan.

He said that he had spent some time on Salter and recconed it was easily 5C cooler than exposed windows on most other cats without any need for shades and the covers for electronics you see on most vessels. Flat panels and built in shade looks practical, safer and looks better to me than unsafe curves.

    Zed,
Mini keels and that is it - - downwind-flyer... 4,800kg and 70 to 80M2 sail-area in 2 big genoas... for an old fart like me that is enough...

    Boston, OK, get the address?

Nice weight, I think that mini keels are not all that bad upwind FWIW. I thought I heard you mention one board at sometime....but not obviously!

Original plan was just one board as many of the 39C have that and it seems adequate but eventually I settled on mini-keels as being the better alternative for the proposed cruising ground and that eased the need / desirability for tip-up rudders... - - Less things to go wrong - - in the KISS philosophy...

It has been suggested that it may be possible to sneak as high as 30 deg apparent - At this stage I do not feel that is critical as I will either start up and power upwind or if strong and difficult, just stay safely anchored up... What is the bloody hurry, tomorrow or even next week sometime is soon enough... Boats are a compromise and 2 x 100hp to push into a full gale once in xx years when 2 x 10 hp will serve very nicely for 99.99% of the time... The other times a secure set of mooring ropes and anchors are more useful for the weight & cost... My build continues here http://boats-n-stuff.com.au/forum/index.php
