The New Age people are getting in the thread. I am still not sure of the original statement in this thread. I asked and never got an answer. Is intuition and fact the same, is that the claim?

Dave may correct me if I'm wrong but in my opinion we were discussing how the process of brainwork sometimes leads us to make conclusions too hasty and how the obvious isn't allways the right answer.
Some of the "new age" people here are just digging up some stuff abandoned in the attic a long long time a go. The problem with long forgotten memories and old rubbish is the same thou.. It's hard to let them go in the garbage bin.. so better to call it "old age" people syndrome :D

Alan, I copied this to a thread in my forum, guntalkandtroy.eamped.com, giving you and this forum credit. It's the funniest thing I've read in a while.

I hope you don't mind being quoted. If you do just let me know, and I'll delete it.

You seem to have encountered quite a bit of resistance there, Zed.

Try turning yourself off and then on again.

That's a hard theological question: If God creates enough epoxy to glue a very large rock with, can he lift the rock?

Well sure, but He'll lift the earth with it!

    That's assuming He's a he.

Are concepts in physics like infinity and a parabola intuitive or not?

The incapacity to see beyond our limitations is infinite. Similar to light not penetrating the outer edge of the universe, or does it. It's expanding faster than the speed of light, so we have no reference at all.

I don't think the question is posed in a way that it can be answered. If you asked if all physicists think in a particular way, then it's also unanswerable. I'm pretty bloody useless now that I come to think of it.

I do think that physicists and others learn concepts like the parabolic trajectory of a projectile, and then eventually use that concept intuitively. Although they know real-world conditions mean the trajectory is not exactly parabolic, they tend to think in terms of the ideal.

Kistinie: your answer may be selfdemonstrating, but is not related to the question. It is necessary to learn science to comprehend some concepts.
