Gerard, before you start cutting your hull about, please ask yourself the following questions: is your hull a medium to deep vee with a constant deadrise along its planing length and with some lift in the bow, and can you keep the weight of the entire project including hull, machinery, fuel, passengers, the ship's cat and your wife's handbag well under two tons? If the answer to either of these is no ,then your next posting may well be "why won't my jetboat perform like it should "

    hi anthony
the hull is a fletcher zingaro its a semi v hull and is 2.11 ton fully loaded the steering at slow speed is also atroucious im starting to think the 238 is too small i have changed the gearing 3 times already and with the gears i have now i should be getting 45mph with 3000rpm but im onl getting 34-35 if its flat calm and if i hit the wake of another boat it falls off the plane

    i appreciate the help cheers

From your first post I assumed that you had not yet fitted this jet and I was trying to prevent this inevitable conclusion. This is a very common situation and the reason that jets have a bad reputation .Whoever sold you the gears in an attempt to put this right should be bl**dy well ashamed of themselves ,any experienced professional should have asked you the same questions that I did before they took your money and possibly misled you as to the increase performance you could expect. I am afraid that your only hope is to lighten this vessel as much as possible ,but basically this jet is too small to perform as you would want in this hull ,sorry I can't be of more help good luck.
