    Hi Serge,

There is a pretty simple way to estimate the costs.
Just estimate the amount of wood needed, some hardware parts, approx. 60 litres of epoxy, 100 sqm glass cloth, and some money you spend on tools and advise.
If you do pretty much everything yourself, costs won't be through the roof.

How to build a wooden boat by "Bud" Macintosh is a must read for a novice wooden boat builder.

These articles are also very good. http://www.woodcentral.com/cgi-bin/articles.pl#smalser

    PAR Yacht Designer/Builder

You beat me to it Richard.

There will likely be little need for epoxy on this boat, and suggesting such indicates a lack of understanding in these types of repairs.

    Unfortunately, there isn't any

, so don't be looking for one. Once you get her surveyed and maybe have the "old man" crawl around her bilge, you'll have a much better idea of what's going on.

    Well, it worked for me.

True, you don't need to use epoxy, but it is good stuff. Especially for gluing.

Sure I am the very last one here to disagree that Epoxy is a good material. But we are talking restoration of a wooden boat, not shabby cosmetics.

And as sure, your rough estimations about cost do not function, and did not function on your project either!

If all you can do is make empty statements, without presenting rational arguments, I am not going to waste any more time with you. I guess you really know everything better than anyone else.

    hey landlupper everyone
please dont get me wrong ,my english is only 16 months old and is 3th lenguage, i translate words from my head
all your and all others especially PARs comments are very very much appreciated
am sure he is master and most of you are bursting with expiriance as well

but also keep in mind that i found restouration and making it my own way as half as fun as sailing and that i adore everything that is old

i was thinking of spending around 40k for a boat over this year , and i honestly could not find anything that i really liked for that amount and size
and buying someones dreamed ideas does not agree fully with my soul

i have plane G too now after all i read form here, i work in and with Bali Indonesia "clothing design" and there do some of my production
shiping it there for repairs would not be a huge problem
but not that i really want that , but if you think it will cost me over 50 to restore her like out grand grand parents did and if independent suveyer says so, maybe i will
keep in mind that Joel is great help

    good news about
    here age and designer
Joel knows the place in adalaide where she was built
working on getting in touch with tham and prevous owners
