We have started testing the Green Motion installed on a FastCat 445
results will follow late January some pictures of the installation are attached.

It's not the lifting and lowering that concerns me, it's the torque on those relatively long arms that will be created by the power of the motors chosen, and the sea conditions fighting back.

The drive legs ( only 85 CM or almost 3 ft ) and all connected is designed for a 10000 NM force in all directions while the drive legs produce a maximum force of only 1500 Nm or a 7 fold overkill. Any outboard drive leg is designed with only an overkill factor of 3 so it does not worry me at all.
I am glad you are not holding your breath since it would make 2010 a very short year for you :) have a great year

I am weary of the seals as I know of others that filled with water within a couple of hours of use (albeit from USA)...

Our electric motors are pressurized with air and have double seals , the same type as is normally used in Sail drives but in this case double.
Another advantage is that these motors are out of the water 95 % of the time compared with sail drives or other underwater electric motors 100 % in the water

Replace a gas or diesel auxiliary using an Electric Yacht battery driven system.

We are gaining serious traction with the Electric Yacht systems installed in monohulls and cats to 40 feet. The advantages are in our well engineered "plug 'n' play" components that fit together and function together. Power and range are dependent on battery and speed choices, but it is perfect for your typical sailor who just needs to maneuver out to set sails, and doesn't want to be concerned about whether or not the diesel is "warmed up!" We expect to really gain momentum as the prices are dropping on the really perfect battery for this application, the LiFePO4.

Sounds like 1/2 mile at 4K , no wind, with out thousands of pounds of batts , but With thousands of DOLLARS of batts and a complex $$$ charger .

A 6hp Honda FROM A rototiller sounds more practicaL , VASTLY CHEAPER , PERHAPS MORE RELIABLE , AND IF NEEDED WITH 1000 times the range.

And you find folks to buy this?

    Not only bat and speed
Motor and propeller efficiency & matching can give very big difference at low speed to get long distance from small batteries.

At full speed they should all look quit the same unless an advanced motor design, not yet available, is used.

The 6 HP outboard is ok as safety, nothing more.

If the boat is light and fast, slow speed autonomy will be surprisingly long as always fed by many renewable sources while moving. No wind no sun days may be less easy, but a small simple biogaz generator could make the junction, making methane out of your **** and organic wastes. Biogaz production machine is a simple passive device where pressure is obtained by water in a passive way. Used in china since...at least 1934 for a national plan.

    Hydro generator
    +
    Solar panels
    +
    wind mill
    +
    Biogaz geny

    = O oil refil

= Close to O service. Grease the plugs and bearings..

Of course for biogaz you need before to have accepted your **** is also a very good fuel. Free energy, just need time and no O² to get methane/Co² in 1 for 1 proportion you will crack to keep only light gazes.

It is just a question of month, before you see such boat, without the **** option of course, in your favourite harbour.
Look at race sailing boats, as now most will be on this model.

Technology is valid, all elements are available or can be done quit simply, and, can be affordable if made much smarter and efficient than today.
    Dinosaurs extinction soon head.

Buy one of the actual product ?
Not for the moment for me, too expensive to my small wallet and not yet adapted to my needs. I'm afraid that in my case, i will have to make from scratch or close, what i need :-(
