Kay9, anyone who looks up Eiffel Tower hoaxes has entirely too much time on his hands....:p

    Here's another one:

In 1986, French citizens residing in Paris were quite shocked by the agreement between the government and Disney that the famous Eiffel Tower would be dismantled and reconstructed in the new Euro Disney theme park that was to built in the east of Paris, so that the space that it occupies could be used to built a stadium for 1992 Olympic Games that could accommodate about 35,000 seats.

One man standing on the corner holding a sign proclaiming "The End Is Near, Unless You Repent", everyone agrees he's crazy.

Dress that man and 40 others just like him from around the world in Lab coats, add a few letters to the end of their name Piled High & Deep. With millions of dollars in research grants, of course their going say "Things are looking bad". It's hard to get more funding by saying "I think it's going to be all right, just a normal swing in temps, it's happened before."

I still remember the 60's as a child being told by the men in white, the next "Ice Age" is around the corner.

Your memory of the 60's is a little fuzzy. (If you don't remember the sixties, you were there.... ).

There were never a bunch of guys in white telling us the next Ice Age is around the corner. It was suggested as a possibility, and newspapers, magazines, science fiction writers, etc., picked the idea up and ran with it for a while, but there wasn't any serious science backing it. There certainly wasn't anything like the general scientific consensus we have today....which is somewhat more than just 40 men in lab coats....supporting the idea of global warming.

"there wasn't any serious science backing it" - see above... or humor thread
Jeez, this is a protracted battle. Indeed, Jimbo, Guillermo, et. al., have closed this deal for you untold times but you persist. Pity, we don't have a Patton, we don't have a Fat Man to close out this lunacy. In the face of truths laid before you, scientific theory explained to you,.. you, desperate people, are wanting to belong to something so worthwhile, so meaningful, that it rights all wrongs of your existance - "Save me, AGW Bandwagon, for I have sinned!"
You warmers wanna know what? Even if you further damage the western world, even if Barack Obama gets candlelight salutes in Norway, even if everyone is forced to drive a Prius, install solar panels at other's expense, eat soylent green, wear hemp clothing, pay retribution to south Pacific nations on subsiding atolls, get their nuts cut after one child, reward China for building a dam they were going to build anyway, even when the school teachers tell your child how progressive their daddy is,..gasp... even then, even when many so-called scientists proclaim "we saved it!", even then... your life will still not have the meaning you want it to.
California, you are 28 billion Dollars from meeting your current obligations. Get a clue. I am sick of paying for you. Drill some oil, build some boats, spill some f'ing styrene, you can go back to being homos when we get the economy on the mend.
Europe, you can be "enlightened" because we supplied you with the umbrella to keep Russia from raining on you after WWll. Give us a break now and dig up Churchill, we all need him.
This is not child's play. We have a smart but mis-lead individual jus' like you in the Whitehouse. We have another one leading the House of Commons (Gordon Brown), Would you want you running the country, giving it away?
It is time to get out of the way and let the adults fix the place. Even if I were wrong, wouldn't intelligent beings, such as yourselves, wait until we get on our feet to hit the economy with yet another salvo? Back off on your AGW... ahem, theory until four years into a businessman's term in the Whitehouse. It is always better to build upon a position of strength, wouldn't you agree?
Speaking of strength, where has the Goricle been hiding since Angliagate?

I'd start looking someplace warm - it's been brutal cold here!

Spoken like a genuine True Believer. Your mind is made up, and you don't intend to let anyone confuse you with facts.;)

No one has "closed' anything here. Particularly Jimbo, with his irrelevant talk of residence times and faulty data about Medieval Warm Periods.....

It's interesting the way your post laces together pseudo-science, politics, jingoism, cultural intolerance, suspicion of intelligence and education, personal insults, and the strange idea that saving the world is somehow bad for the economy....you're a prize package indeed.

And just to round things out and prove exactly what you are and where you're coming from, you finish up with a few completely gratuitous swipes at California. Gotta hate them hippies and homo's, don'cha? Proof positive that you consider the debate about climate change to be part of a cultural war, rather than a scientific debate.

Get a clue, dude. You aren't paying for California's problems; we send a potload more money to the feds every year than we get back. I suspect that if you live in the part of the country where bashing California is most popular, you'll find we're actually helping support your state with our taxes, rather than the other way around.

    Did I say "California"?
Yes, California is historically a huge portion of the economy, in fact, one eighth - roughly the size of China's economy.
Of course, it would be unconstitutional, and irresponsible, for Congress to enable California’s fiscally reckless ways and Obama has told your idiot governor to not expect a bailout, but your leaders in Sacramento have signed high-deficit budgets and continually championed huge bond initiatives, paying for today by writing checks on behalf of future generations. There have been major spending increases in all government sectors. The budget has gone from about $100 billion to $145 billion in five years. Despite multiple tax increases (imagine this!), the deficit has increased. Some of my associates tell me that they are getting payed with IOUs officially called “registered warrants” (money!) . There are also forced loans being taken from gov employee checks. The feds say ‘no bailout,’ but does anyone believe that? Remember G.M?
Federal stimulus money plus conventional federal aid in the first quarter was at an annual rate of $437 billion, by-the-way. Even if moneys received has exceeded moneys sent to date - you have a big responsibility there with Santa Ana's gift and recent stimulus shows a broken pattern. Sorry to knock your state and its homos but my argument stands that California is a net leech - the "too big to fail" hirudin secreted is nothing compared to the bite you will remove from my children's future. The example set in education (indoctrination), the movies, spending, gun laws, and environmental wacko-ism has paved the path to Copenhagen.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VA8jvipC0Z0&feature=player_embedded ...have they got you good and scared yet? The next step is the steak on your plate.

Apparently, you're incapable of mentioning California without throwing in something about homo's. What's up with that? Do you have some sort of secret fascination or prurient interest in *************?

You're changing your tune a little, though. Last post you said you were "tired" of paying for California. Now you're saying it's somehow inevitable that you will be paying, someday down the road. Get your story straight, will you?

You know, you're something to behold. We're trying to talk about climate change and the validity of the science involved (or supposed lack thereof), and here you come with rants about homos, Hollywood, General Motors, forced sterilization, soylent green, and even California's state budget.

Obviously, you don't read or listen to much in the way of actual news. Or you'd know that 42 other states are in financial trouble too, and facing deficits this year and next.

Now if you don't mind, can we get back to the subject?

Actually, I remember the 60's. We weren't all stoned. Some scientist went on the Merv Griffin show(Ican't remember his name) and predicted that by 2000 A.D. people would get frostbite on the 4th of July in New York City.

Homo sapiens, ya homo. I was talking 'bout the good people of CA. "...some sort of secret fascination or prurient interest in *************" (that was the most "CA" color on the scale!) You do seem to have the jargon down... And it is very much relevant to the discussion of the hoax, the road that led to it, and the people responsible for propagating it - in no small way, Hollywood and the people that give credence to someone's opinion because he is a "Star". CA was a wonderful place, incidentally - too many kooks but wonderful. The microcosm that is CA foreshadows the future, if one is a pessimist. I, for one, intend to not let that happen. Morality, environment, guns, borders, now finances (not to sound too much like Michael Savage) - the place is sick.
http://www.michaelsavage.wnd.com/ I don't know where he weighs in at on AGW but my guess is, because he's smart, agin.

Remind us about the taxes the next time FEMA rolls into town when an earthquake causes billions of dollars worth of damage in California.

Your worried about the climate change, what about the water diverted off the Colorado river to California, that never reaches fields in Mexico or Arizona. Just to create a false "climate" that would not support a third of the southern Califorina population if the water flow was cut off. Electricity has to imported from all the states around California just to fill the need.

Now tell me how concerned you are while you live in a false paradise/climate.

I bet your still drive a car, your house is connected to the grid and have a outdoor grill, that you fire up everynow and then.
