try ebay.com for your mud motor prop. i bought 2 used ones for $10. make sure you get a left handed prop unless you use pistnbroke's idea because he turned his engine around and used a chain drive so he could use right handed props for his idea look under lifan thai long tail in the diy marnizing thread of this forum. but i have bought several left handed props on ebay for under $30. good luck

 

Thanks for the help. I looked on ebay and could not find anything under $135. Anybody tried a trolling motor prop from youngs on a 6 hp long tail mud motor? I'm only wanting to go about 2-3mph at idle and 8-10mph at full out. Any experiences with these props?

when you use ebay are you looking up boat props, or boat propellers? i have much better luck using boat propellers. it's 6:30 pm in iowa and i just found a mud motor prop on ebay that is going off at 8 pm central time its $40 its 11x10 but has a 3/4 hex shaft item number is 330368796851. maybe you will get this in time

 

Appreciate the tip on that. I did not get it in time, had to work late. I will try your method. Hiw fast are these type of props pushing an average boat?

 

that prop is far too big for a weeed eater ..you would need a 6.5hp lifan geared 3 :1 to drive it ...you are looking at 6 in dia by 2 in pitch for a weed eater ...youngs T10 is the go if its the right rotation

 

So no one has a source for a 52cc brush cutter in the US. I have been watching on E-bay, but not willing to pay 600+ dollars for a USED stihl.

here is a wed site that carrys 49cc 2stroke engines it comes with a clutch but you could take it off i guess. just some different options for you.

Don't forget yard sales(Widows don't use these things) or flea markets. You can waste a day and/or find a treasure.

 

Introduction to latest Thai long tail setups

Hi,

I am living in Thailand and my hobby is to build long tail boats and tune Honda engines.

I would like to share the long tail setups presently available here.
The engine shown, is a new model of the 6.5hp engine from Honda with Digital ignition and "Marine" compatible parts. The governor is removed and the ignition has a limiter at 4500 RPM. the idle can go down to about 800 RPM with the special carb setup and the camshaft used.

the complete setup costs here about $400.- so no need to have headache with home R&D.

The equivalent setup with a 13hp engine is around $650.-

where do you get the props for the motors you make are they custom made for each engine or mass produced. any outlets for them in the states. what size shaft and tube are used? and how long is the shaft on the motor? and where could you find the adapter to go from the engine to the shaft? any websites would be most helpfull for alot of folks on this forum

Thai Honda long tail boats

don't search any further !

My wife is the owner of the shop in the pictures. As she don't speak english I have to step in here.

She is an official Honda Power products dealer and can get all Honda parts and engines.
Further she also sells the accessories going with the engines such as long tails, pumps, movers,...

Having got a lot of interest from all of you, please give me some time and I will find out all the relevant information needed to serve you.

My biggest headache is to find out about a viable shipping method for the shafts.

Please stay with me for a couple of days. I'll get details for all the parts.

The Standard long tail kit consists of:
Shaft 1 1/2" Diameter, approx 93" Long for GX200 and 113" long for GX390, cast aluminum coupling (add another 6 to 8" to the shaft to get total kit length), cast aluminum propeller available in different sizes and pitch, engine support with pivot and it's counter part to be fixed to the boat hull all made of steel, chromed and formed steel handle, throttle lever and throttle cable. In short everything except the engine, ready to go in 20 minutes after unpacking... (if you get the engine too. The engine used comes ungoverned from the works with a chromed special throttle setup ready to take the long tail throttle cable.)
All this parts are produced in high quantities. My wife is their agent.
I am playing with those boats and tuning the engines for fun and long tail racing.
As she don't speak english I have to step in here.

There are also engine coupling versions with reduction gear incorporated for boats with heavy loads. (Mainly for the GX390 13hp engine)

Besides the end users, which we are pleased to serve, is there anybody interested to become reseller in the States ? I think shipping and importing in bulk would make things more cost effective and also allow after sales support. There is no high tech parts involved though. Just get a couple of props in spare...

Perhaps we can get the shafts locally if you send the other components? What are the shaft dimensions?

 

the cast aluminum coupling and the props would be the best parts to ship over as most of use could fabricate the rest as long as we new what sizes the other components are. it does look like a great product though.
