Our Fire Brigade is looking for plans to build a steel sectional barge approximately 30 feet long, 8 to12 feet wide, using 1/4" steel or 55 gallon polypropylene drums to sleep and fire small to med pyrotechnic displays involving small cakes and mortar racks to fire 6’ star shells

Any assistance would be most welcome

    Many thanks in advance

Barge floating platform for pyrotechnic (fireworks) displays

Many thanks in advance for your offer.

Our Fire Brigade also provides volunteer Fireworks displays for the Community and in doing so is looking for plans to build a deck barge as a floating platform for pyrotechnic (fireworks) displays.

It needs to be able to carry a maximum of 2 people and up to 1300lbs of cargo.

We have access to a good ongoing supply of 200 Litre polypropylene drums, which would be used as modular (floatation) Pontoons

We would like to install 8 x 200 Litre polyethylene drums, into a frame under the barge which would hold the pontoons under the barge.

    Length: 8 m

    Width: 3.6 m

Construction: mild Steel tubing and angle

Pontoon: 220 Litre Blue Mauser Heavy Duty Polypropylene drums, 580 mm D X 925 mm H

    No of Pontoons: 1 x Port Pontoon, 1 x Centre Pontoon, 1 x Starboard Pontoon (8 x 220 drum),

Fixture of Drums: Each drum securely tied down with two straps

Centre of Gravity: cargo would be no higher than 4 feet above the deck

Details: We want to be able to trailer/truck this down the highway to the Harbour.

Email me back if you require more info simon@fire-rescue.ac.nz

    Hello Bijit,
I'm interested in building a barge similar to the one shown in this link's video: http://www.astillerogustavomarquez.com/video1.htm Since I cannot afford buying it new, I'll appreciate it if you can please let me know if you can provide the plans as I have a welding team that can help me with the construction but depending on that I provide the plans. I just need it for crossing a river with capacity for a truck but occasionally might need extra capacity (at least 25 ton capacity) for crossing a Caterpillar. Thank you.

I think Mr. Vishnu Baiju would be the man for that job.

    Barge capacity

Hello I need to build a barge out of Steel 12m long X 8m wide I think I will need to build it 1-2 meters tall. On a barge this size do you have an idea how much capacity this barge will hold in 1.5 meters deep of water?
Will this barge even float in 1.5 meters of water? I do not know the math formula for figuring out these things.

Bijit, can these pontoons be towed? They seem kind of square and top heavy. Can you send a somewhat bigger drawing.

We would not but on more than 20 tons at most.

Look forward to hear from you.

    Hi

I have just joined Boatdesign and have read your comments, maybe you can help me. I want to designe a double hulled barge, length 8m, width needs to be what ever will keep the bage stable stable. The gap between the barges will be 2m and I will be mounting a 4m diameter water wheel inbetween the barge. The water wheel will br constucted using square tubing so it will not be that heavy, I will however have to take the effect of wind force into account.

    Regards

    Work Barge Conversion

We have a 40' 1968 River Queen twin engine steel hull houseboat we are converting to a work barge. We are on a fresh water lake in northeast Oklahoma. The purpose of the barge is to install a crane capable of lifting portions of our breakwater for steel repair and to install new encapsulated floatation. I was asked to do some research and learn what I could from anyone with past experience with such a project. My main concern is structurally where is the best location to mount a crane and what size would be recommended on a 40' barge? I appreciate any advice or experience you have with this. Thank you

How to build a 130' Barge?

I am working on a project that involves using recycled metal containers as housing and we are looking into putting these containers onto a barge.

I am wondering what it would take to build a 130'x50' deck barge with holding tanks under the deck?? any help would be great. thanks
