hello!!! i am juan from argentina, and i need your help.
i have old mercruiser engine 260 from ´80. where is the serial numbers??? this don´t have stickers located near the starter, by the flywheel housing; or, on the rocker arm or flame arrestor cover, and is separated from the transom plates and the sterndrive. is possible the numbers engraving, coined, or printing in the block???
thanks, and sorry for my bad languages.

Once the decals are gone and the warranty card is missing, there is no way to find out the serial numbers from the drive or transom plates.
The engine may have a small metal tag riveted near the main circuit breaker with only the word Mercruiser and a number on it.

Whats the reason you need to know?
If its a EOE exhaust with points is basically one serial number range or
if it a COE with electronic ignition its another range
    End Outlet Exhaust
    or
    Centre OE
