Tayana 55 1988/90.Is she good to cross serious oceans

    Hi my name is johnny iam looking at a 55 tayana 1988. i will be living aboard and sailing her around the world.There is no hurry maybe 5 to 7 years.
    Can any one give me reviews good or bad on the 55.

    Hello Johnny,
    Ta Shing has a good reputation and Pieter Beeldsnijder is a well known designer so I dont see any negative aspects. Just a old speech I recollect (take it with a grain of salt). The bluewater community says 50% of the circumnavigating boats are made of metal, the rest are American.
    But that would fit too.
    And I guess you know this website?

    Hi Richard,
    Thanks for the link to the website,but i have it,For the money the 55 is a good deal although she is 20 years old,but money is tight.

    I thought Ta Yang, a yard south of Kaohsiung, built the Tayana 55 in 1988

    You´re right, it is Ta Yang, good reputation too.
