The Marketplace Forums can be useful for members who know one another well from forum discussions and offline communications and wish to post boatbuilding tools, drafting tools, molds and tooling, and other professional equipment for sale or trade. However, caution and good judgement should always be used. Especially when considering any business with anyone not already well known to you and trusted, due diligence must be used to confirm details and identity and be sure the transaction is safe before any money or property changes hands. Always use good judgement and perform due dilligence and follow these guidelines.

    Hello,

If you want to start construction it can be done at anytime. We have kilned dried wood stock and space available today at the yard.

Motor Mounts, we do not suggest flexible mounts, we prefer to simply bolt the engine to the engine bed and also prefer low gear ratios to allow slow turning shaft and large prop.

We do not recommend glassing a hull, however if you wish it can be done. Wooden boats with traditional crew will assure no leaking in the long term.

It would help if you tell us where the boat is to be taken and what it will be used for.

    Best Regards

The boat would be used as a live abord or my house. The reason why I would like to glass the hull is to keep any and all wood to ocean contact at bay preventative maintenance. I would end up sailing her to hawaii. people have told me that these boats are not designed to be ocean travlers but i have talked to a German guy that had his boat built in Suliwesi and is now sailing off the coast of Greece. I would need to talk to a naval architect to understand what modifications would need to be done to make the schooner open ocean worthy. Every sence I first saw my first pinisi schooner I have vowed to own one and that will be the boat I spend my money on. I am still not ready yet but I am getting close and need to start preprations.

    Sailing to Hawaii ?

It has been done before with Pinisi Nusantara, in fact that one went all the way to Vancouver. As long as you select the right time of year and follow the pilot charts, it should be able to happen.

You should plan to visit us one day and talk about all the details in person!

Below a picture of said vessel (for the Austrian) at beginning of construction.
