actually, for classic wooden boat look, I think A****** Boatyard is very good at this; worldclass actually. They already have some nice boat in OM before. Not really a wooden boat, actually composite, but has the trim of a wooden boat with really nice joints and stainless work etc; the 8m speed boat Gozzo was near the boat I race on at OM for a few days, work of art.

For racing boat full carbon (GP42, TP52, open 70, skiff) I not sure there are any yard in Thailand that could compete with Cookson or McConaughy. CMI are trying, and can do, have the autoclave, ovens, etc, but full prepreg carbon construction is not easy for do. Medium technology composite such as E glass vacuum over foam type level, then many yards in Thailand can do well at good price including serenity, *******, *****, etc etc. Thai workers can be very capable.

But to get the stainless and wood work at a level like A******.....I think this is some of the best I ever saw in the world. Perfection ;-) Did not know they also can do longtail!!!

    fire damaged hull

Is this the fire-damaged 33ft hull that the Hans Christian company published a disclaimer about (we scrapped the hull, RB please don't advertise it as a HC!) on their website a few years ago?

    thanks to remember

    ah , yes :

Pattaya Court rejected the cases ( of course was only a Civil Case , the simpliest one : work realized and unpaid ) last november 2008 , and allowed us to keep going following the Contract .

This is what we did , as the Contract foreseen a timeline for the payment , and as the Customer did not pay the final Invoice , issued on deliver , March 2008 , until now , we sold the boat to the very first person who came to see her .

    Being proven by now , that at least with that case of 'Siam Sailor' , RB was absolutely correct ;

    please take note :p

    Ciao

Hans Christian or not : not

Hans Christian Yachts or Andersen Yachts ; that Company closed and opened a few times and changed name a few times . I bought that hull from the Marine Police that confiscated after one bankrupt of one of the previous Companies .

I never advertissed that boat as an Hans Christian as was/is absolutely not original
    :

different motor , layout , timber , deck , prop , deck gears , and the hull has been rebuilt , partially , with all the gel coat removed and 2 layers of the fiberglass work . The hull has been later painted with Awl Grip with a color not original as well .

Luckily we could save the hull as by miracle a neighbour run to stop the fire , a previous employee of HC i believe , an american guy that is now fishing lobsters in Alaska . A real lucky case !

Unfortunately that way , even if by the papers it is an Hans Christian ( the one supplied by Pattaya Marine Police , the Curator of the after Bankrup auction ) , i could not say that was an Hans Christian and actually i wanted to keep the boat for me and family .

I changed idea for some reasons and i decided to sell her , but not as an HC ( the boat is not even published on our website , i believe ) .

I remember that there have about 3 or 4 HC 33' and 1 38' for sale in different conditions , at that time ( 9 years before ) but unfortunately i could not afford to buy all of them .

Very nice looking boat , but a bit slow for my actual taste as i am too used to sailing cats .

I won the auction against a thai boatyard , well known , that was bidding against , but i really wanted to own that piece of history ..

Anyway that boat was located in Soi Potisarn , where they used to buid these HC before they moved to Bangsare' and now they gave the license to build to Pantawee Marine , but i don't think they built any . Not sure .

To build a classic boat as that one in Thailand too , is way too expensive and it is easy to end up out of the market . Teak is expensive here too .

The hull we completed , anyway , to be precise , was much simplier then the original ones , where expensive teak wood and bronze parts are just everywhere .

After a few years , Andersen Yacht closed and Pantawee was and is only a small operation , so many workers from Andersen Yacht where available and at least 5 or 6 moved to RB . I could have rebuilt this boat precisely as from the plans ( that Pantawee generously gave to me together with a bunch of photos and even the rudder ! thanks ) ,now , with that workers , experienced on that boat . too late , as the boat has been built and sold since few years already .

The actual owner bought many boats from us ( about 8 including 30' and 50' cats ! ) and ordered now a monster 80' Helicopter Carrier , but once i asked him if he wanted to sell his copy-Hans Christian , but he refused .

Just to be precise , if you want to find out problems for that time of the fire , even if the boat has been sold and is surely not on the market nor advertissed : the hull has been inspected and certified . Fire damages were only on the surface and damaged only the gel coat , so it is written on the survey of the certified engineer . So can cool down :D

And take note that RB , since 1998 , never bankrupt of course , never changed name or owner , and hopefully for many more years with our unbeatable quality/price ratio will be the pain in the neck of well known boatyards of all over the world .

    Thanks

    RB
