I seen the picnic boat and also the blue catamaran from ***** at Ocean Marina before; if this is typical work from him then seems like he can produce a good boat; maybe he is not perfect, maybe his work not always right, but seems like these two boats are good and well built.

If people want to know Italian yards doing scam work in Thailand, there is one right now who people all talking about; that has just 3 customers, and all 3 I think are fighting with the owner who is trying to steal their designs!

For those who believe that a multi million IPO brings huge wealth to a co-founder:
    http://www.smh.com.au/news/Business/When-we-went-pop/2005/04/12/1113251627650.html
Here Creed has to repay a 735K AUD debt from it's own company by sellling most of his shares of the same company in 2001, which was a penny stock then:
    http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-77871712.html
But again that's just the net and the net has been spreading lies everywhere since it's inception for sure. And I know the internet from the very beginnings as usenet long before the WWW was publicly available.

Being described as a highly successful "something" (thinker, co-founder, consulting something, writer, speaker, you name it) may justify to be in the market as a celebrity speaker. But that doesn't mean much except that Creed still needs to work to earn a living like most of us do me included.

@RB: My previous post was not meant to offend you or Creed. Just to say that we will fail to analyze the situation in full detail from our armchair.
Not being there no one can testify the build quality. Not being part of the game no one can tell who did what and when and why and how much did it cost or delay.
Regarding the result: From the photos it looks like the nicest Tiki I have ever seen. Creed's blog was full of nice shots, too, before it went offline.

This thread is interesting and boring at the same time:
Interesting like a daily soap on TV. You can watch other peoples life from the armchair without even having a real life on your own. But boring because it will not bring much light into the story and will not add much value to anyone interested in building a boat in Thailand or elsewhere.

Afterall many people in the boating area are passionate dreamers because boating has much to do with dreams. That includes myself but at least I know (and stay within) the size of my wallet ;-)

    thanks

    Thanks , appreciated .

If happens to you to be in Thailand, Pattaya or Bangkok , give me a call and i will show you our facilities and make a sea trial on an RB 34 .

    I understand that for many of you it is difficult to understand the details of this and other stories ;

please understand that for me it is frustrating to handle accusations , when we still would like to get paid for a work done and we are waiting and paying our daily expenses .

Many posts seem to me pointing the finger on the Yard and lacking of objectivity , and this is what makes me unhappy to read . Criticisms are welcome , everytime ; offences , should be avoided .

    Bye

    Hello Chris,

Glad you joined the forum and also glad that Albert is there reconfirming the issues. Being there seeing the boat under construction as Albert has and yourself actually involved gives the pair of you a very good platform to make comments and observations from. I must ask the others in this forum have they this experience with this actual boat - In other words have they seen it, have they been privy to be there during stages of construction, are they qualified NAs looking on at progress in the factory as Albert is?
On your topic of steering without rudders - one of Gunthers 52 footers struck a submerged object ripping off and damaging both rudders. Seamaship skills led them to trail the crossbeam by 2 ropes at either end and sail / motor when required by lengthening the ropes singularly on the trailing crossbeam to increase and decrease drag to either side thus pulling the boat on course. They sailed from around Cypress to the next landfall where they fixed the rudders.

I have joined this particular forum quite late and actually haven't bothered with Boat Design Forum for some time. A friend pointed me to this thread as it has been going on for some time and continues to do so. I must say there is always two stories and I was in the earlier stages more favourable / biased towards the client. Now I am the other way. But sitting on the side comfortable in front of my computer with no dust and heat - decisions and comments can be made easily with ease and without pain. Not so for RB and who is on the receiving end trying to run a business. In a perfect world - which we are all not in?? All may have been different!

  5. You want to find in anyway in this skeg design-construction issue the reason why Mr. Chris Creed O'Hanlon hasn't paid the boat? :D

who are the scam yards in Pattaya? we want to know!!

    Hi Alberto,

Scam yards in Pattaya is the exact reason this thread exists. Please list the scam yards for the thousands of potential customers who have viewed this thread 25,000 times. This thread is extremely popular, has high priority on any search on Thai, multihull, or boatbuilding and therefore extremely dangerous to <removed> who are all big players on the scene and who derive the vast majority of their profit margins from English-speaking or English-knowing internet customers in the UK, US, Australia, New Zealand, and Scandinavia.

If this was not the case their websites would be exclusively in Thai, Russian or Italian, they wouldn't be continuously posting (why not let their reputations do the talking), nor mounting smear campaigns aganist past clients (while being unable to induce any positive testimonials from past clients).

If these businessman can't cleanup the garbage in there own industry, then it is up to customers to put the scammers out of business by not giving them business. Nothing personal, just prudent business. But we need to know who they are.

Hey, if you advertise to the world on the internet then the world has a right to know all the dirt!

  7. From my side I really do not care about this thread. At least can keep away from AB boat dreamers and who wants to approach the sea from a forum.

    Hi Khun Ian

A story that can now be told.

Last word on the skeg, I ran aground on a sandbar off Tobruk on a short handed delivery trip, crew tiredness led us to miss a very small Northerly Cardinal in perfect visibility and moderate sea state and maybe 12 knots of wind. A perfect sailing day.

Skipper to me "is that a Cardinal Buoy?" crunch!, me " (expletives deleted) looks like it Skip ". Luckily it was a rising tide, but we had to endure a couple of hours of listening to the resounding thuds of the boat pitching and pivoting on the keel and the rudder. On fin and masks when we floated off and an inspection of the rudder, which thankfully was undamaged apart from the sand grinding away the finish on the bottom of the rudder.

In this case a sacraficial skeg would have been a blessing.

    Capisch?

    Continue spreading unproven ********?

Write me an email showing Your real name/address, so I will provide the references from our customers that are few yards around the World, and You can get testimonials. We have no problem with our customers and boats, besides we launch one boat per month from our drawing board. You can see boats designed by us on major European boat shows. None of boats claimed in this thread is our design anyway.

We do not advertise in Internet but in respectable boating magazines, in different languages. Pls check Multihulls (Eng), Multihulls world (Eng/Fra), WorkBoat (Eng), Yacht Design (Eng/Ita), etc.

In Russia we operate through another company - have design office there and also advertise in Russian magazines.

Seems like You are the liar, dutz.

  10. dutz will never do this, will never refer about his name and intentions and will never visit a yard as a potential customer... as isn't.

  11. Sirs, soon AB website only in....Arab.

    Dear Dutz

    Dear Dutz

Welcome to the Club of the Anonymous defamators !

    1. Past clients , 3 on 300 hundres , posted defamations here to cover their own fault .

    - not having the money to pay for a boat ready and delivered ;Tiki 38
    - having signed a contract and not beig in condition to pa ythe foreseen installments ; Penny 26
    - having left the boat at the anchor alone for 6 months ; lost the boat on the rock ; RB 42 electric
    - having left the boat alone for nearly 1 year in Ocean Marina ; RB 42 Island Breeze

    2. They posted hundred times without prooving just nothing ; Ah, sorry : they prooved that they are defaming without any proof .

    3. We are posting on the Thread as , i speak on behalf of RB , intelligent readers -many- are in condition to eaily understand the truth and are coming to my yard , DIRECTLY from this internet thread !

I never ever had so much interest for the Tiki or any other Wharram design ; i received 6 inquires in one week .

This thread is a great idea .... it is working the exactly opposite way that 3 persons had in mind :D :D :D

    4. In a worlwide crise , to build a low cost boat/catamaran , in a country as Thailand , is for many persons the only way to realize a dream .

    Dear Dutz ,

you hold to your armchair , instead of the main sail sheet you have the mouse , no risk to enter in a swell , may be only an online virus but i know you are experienced enough to face it .... and keep surfing !

    Bye

I sail against the young half Thai guy with the sportboat project; I even wanted to buy one, until he say he cannot sell now and can't even get back his molds to start again!

He very sad for the last month or so and told me the story and even show me his boat with the busted keel that they did, but I think he will get it finished ok. not sure who is the 3rd client.

I am fairly sure most of Thai boat building is for export, big yard like CMI (part of Cobra) maybe export 95% of what they build.....so that means they are scam artist of something??! The number of boats in Thailand is very low, so most people buying are not Thai.

Actually, I know for sure at Ocean Marina, for someone wanting to build a boat, if it was classic looking wooden type boat, then some yards very good for this sort of work. Would not matter if they Thai or foreign, living here or not, those yards well known to make the very high quality joinery etc.

For long tail boat or Thai fishing boat, then Thai people not go to a yard like ***** for sure, because he is specialist in relatively cheap fibreglass boats. For high performance all carbon racing boat, I think there is not a yard in Thailand with this capability, maybe have to get built in NZ or somewhere else.

In my business, most of what we do is for export also, so write in Thai for the staff, and english/french for the clients. Does not mean we are scamming or anything! Most websites are in english, even for me with not perfect english, I still have to read about resin, boat, work, etc etc all in english.
