I spent turkey day in Gloucester. There is no work there and businesses are shutting down. It's a cold and depressing place to be but my girlfriend and I had roast duck with my brother and his lovely wife.

    It was a lovely time:)

Wynand, How is your build progressing? I bet she looks a treat.... There is a Saffa pastor coming to the Buderim Uniting church - could take 6 months to satisfy the bureaucrats in immigration here - Hope he makes it before than but the bureaucrats here are "amazing".....

Mas,, had a setback with the small 6m daysailor plug in the sense that when the ply was put on, all was well, however, the next day the ply was "lobster backed" everywhere where a tight curve was and that represent about 50% of it.
My own fault, used 3mm variety singe ply pine instead of 4mm marine ply, but since it was just a plug, I thought what the hell and is now paying the price.

All that said, the apprentice got it reasonably fair and put a primer coat on Friday. Tomorrow will check fairness again and when all is OK, gonna pull the mould.
The deck plug was put on hold because we use a split hull mould - split horizontally at the sheer - and to prevent errors that may delay me more, decided to build the deck plug on the hull mould. All this will start this week coming.

The Dixie is going well, albeit slow due to the cabinetmaker who bluntly refuses to be rushed or taken less than a perfect way of doing things. Perhaps better that way in terms of quality, but expensive in another way...

Fitted underlay to starboard deck and sealed the joints. Fitted the stub for the toe rail both sides. Vacuumed the interior in prep for paint and seal to the bilge, Applied fairing compound will rub down tomorrow. Cut “bulkheads” the forward bulkheads are not part of the structure of the boat. Instead the builder used beams large and low on the forward part of the boat. I found residual canvas I assume the deck was canvas at one time. Cut new knees for the cabin deck joints. Had a good Saturday, Sunday was rained out :)

My Lovely Lady seems to thrive in extreme pressure environments.. 4 days before settlement on a block of land we signed to purchase, tha bank (suncorp) pulls out of the deal citing changes in economic uncertainty - In her usual tenacious manner, got Stockland empire to agree to an extension of time, (24 days), to sort out a new banker.... - done within 96 hours (including a weekend), but not quite before settlement would have been due.... So a bit of breathing space to dot some i's and cross some t's - - - Let us pray for she is being helped by something mysteriously like God?

We are enjoying a long weekend, as today, monday, is a not workable day in Spain. So I'm gathering family at lunch time and cook for them this delicious typical galician dish: "carne ó caldeiro'
    Everybody is invited....:)

    Cheers.

    Sailing ??

Well it was nice to get to the Vaaldam for a couple of days:D

We took a cruise under power up towards Villiers - fantastic scenery - wonderful to see that we still have SOME unspoilt land left, that is not overun by shacks.

The inhabited parts of South Africa looks like flippen India:mad:

Lots of rain - no sailing - but one in a million luck shot - i caught a fish :D :D
one of those stinky slimey things that eat all the **** in the marina - we put it back:D :D
