    oh, for duck hunting

    I have an extended platform on front to sit the dog that replaces the casting lean post and cammo that runs up one pontoon, over the motor and up the other. I may need to rethink the clutch as mentioned earlier, but that should be doable. The boat lists at holding 400 lb and I weigh 175, dog 70 and motor around 20 with mount so still got weight capacity for decoys, gun and gear. I had to extend the oar mounting to compensate for the raised seat so that I could still row as needed.

    Where did you get the 3 bladed prop?

    Looks like the new prop on the Rickshaw commercial weedeater motor. If you would be so kind as to post this info, It would be appreciated.

    Lots of great looking motors and innovations on this link. I have referred many here who have been quite impressed.

    Mark it is off of a Shakespeare trolling motor, a guy gave me the motor and it was so rusted up, I had to cut it up to get the transom mount off of it, and I scavenged all the parts I could for other projects, and just noticed it laying around and after I went direct drive, it was the right rotation.

    You guys are really doing me proud

    Haven't checked in here for quite some time. Glad to see how far you guys are taking the weedwacker builds. When I pioneered the first weedwacker longtail (and nearly got laughed off the internet) nearly 10 years ago I never thought they would become as popular as they have. I pretty much stopped doing anything with mine after I started building bigger longtails but I'm really glad that you all are keeping it alive and maintaining a free exchange of ideas unlike those who went commercial.

    Just sent you a pm but wanted to publically thank you for all the wisdom and experience you have graciously shared with all who have built one of these motors. I know for sure that I would never have built one of these if the information you posted on various sites was not around for me to follow. I couldn't have done it.

    I've had a blast building and using this motor (used again this morning and it worked like a charm). Learned a little about myself along the way.

    Anyway, Thank you again for sharing your knowledge. You would be the same Shawn that has visited the DBHF with a last name that starts with an "H" by chance.

    Well I don't know what the DBHF is and my last name starts with W, so no , not me. Glad to provide some inspiration though. There was a time when I thought I'd like to market these little longtails but just never had the capital it takes to go commercial. I refused to give out much info for years because there were folks with commercial interests trying to pimp me for info. Once the 5 and 6 HP big name mud motors started hitting the market I figured there wasn't much market potential left for the weedwackers so I started letting out more and more info. Once foamers started becoming popular all that changed and now everyone wants to build one. I've build a number of these over the years, mostly for friends or family and I've never made one cent of profit, and I don't feel bad about that at all. It's good to see all of the different ideas folks are incorporating into their home built rigs. Best of luck to everyone who undertakes the project.

    Orphanedcowboy or others using the 52cc pock rocket motor...

    Mark Wo and I started pursuing the weed wacker motor abut the same time. I opted to purchase the Rickshaw motor when I could not get the Duropower engine. I've been watching this site and noticed the scooter/pocket rocket motor come up in the conversation. I really like the Rickshaw for design and function but have been a little dissappointed with the performance with the Honda 35cc engine and the fact that the Honda motor does not have a sleeved cylinder. I purchased the 35cc Robin/Subaru which does have a cast iron sleeve. I believe this motor to be superior to the Honda as far as component material such as the quality of the plastic parts, castings and it appears to have better performance. Still not enough to cut though some of the stuff I'm going though in the marshes I hunt so I purchased the 52cc electric start engine Orphanedcowboy is using but I have a couple of questions. I expected a sheet of instructions but did not receive one. It appears I need to buy more stuff. What does the single wire do that comes out of the starter and there is 2 connector plug that is also part of the motor. What is that plug for?

    Hey Ripped Off, I wanted to thank you again and ask you a question... I have a stealth 2000 and am doing ok with my little 35cc set up. I noticed have you did all sorts of engines 2hp and 5hp. Did they make a huge difference. I know the hull wont allow you to go any faster but what about pushing through mud and grass?

    Hey there Ed

    Still killing time in the Tampa airport by chance.

    I know what the one wire is, this is for your starter. This wire attaches to the positive side of the battery and then you run a wire from the negative side of the battery to a ground somewhere. At least this is what I have been led to believe.

    The extra connection you mention is for pluggin in the automatic breakfast maker. You didn't know about this feature when youu bought that motor did you? It is considered an accessory so it will cost you some more bucks.

    By chance, could this plug be something for a tach or maybe even a light? Just guessing here.
