    Hi,
I'm new to the forum and hoping I'm in the right spot to get some wisdom related to "hybrid" (DE or Battery) solutions. My diesel engine recently gave up and I figure this would be a good opportunity to explore both routes to repower.

I honestly don't know where to start in terms of determining what my setup would look like but have quickly realized there 1) are few obvious solutions and 2) few people with the expertise to install/help install.

Other key information that might be helpful:
    - Vessel is a 30' Sundowner trawler
    - 5cyl 70hp motor (dead) with max HP at the shaft 67 @ 4500 RPM; max torque (ft/lbs) 90 @ 3000 RPM
    - My cruise is 7 knots at 2800-3000k
    - Use is in and around the Puget Sound, 40% on the hook 60% marina. Occasional long distance cruise (i.e. Desolation Sound, San Juans, etc.)

Thanks advance for any information out there . . .I've seen a lot in terms of sailing solutions and yachts but nothing for the little guy like me.

    Chuck

Look at the Kubota stuff for a repower .Use your existing tranny and shaft, prop.

Since the parts can be had at the tractor store , the prices don't get as insane as Volvo Yanmar and the other "marine" pirates.

Brite Star, strangle your web dork ,

most of the world is still on DIAL UP, and your site is therefore unaviliable.

Have you built a boat yet?

    try this

    Fred,
The site is just for messin' around...don't expect any biz from it. I'm the web dork! Try this to bypass the flash presentation:

We'll start laying the first hull in about 60 days. Have plenty of very experienced glass layers looking for extra work...that's 4 sure! Each will take a long time to build...no short cuts or cheap labor. We hope 15 months can finish the first.

Something is wrong then. The link I gave to the homepage doesn't have any high density stuff on it. It's just a logo and a couple low-res drawings with links to better pages.
Actually, I appreciate the heads-up...maybe something is wrong with my web provider. Here's the guestbook pages...there's really nothing on that page so it should come right up:

    Electric hybrid for boats

You might take a look at E Motion Hybrids. The web site is www.electricmarinepropulsion.org We've been talking with them about putting this system into our Moody 376. I believe it might fit well into your boat depending on the amount of room you have available for the system components.
