Where to buy Hartley 16 Plans?

Building first boat - Hartley 16 - Need Advice!

Hey, I've recently fallen in love with sailing and want a sailboat. I've decided that it would be a great learning experience if I built my own boat, as my brother, Dad and I are pretty good with wood work. I decided on the Hartley 16 because it's easy to transport and great for family sailing. I'd be able to put on the lake or ocean and enjoy a relaxing sail.

My question though is, where do I buy the best set of plans, or do all of the websites that I've been to offer the same plan?

http://www.ClarkCraft.com offers the entire plans and patterns for 50 dollars including shipping. I'm leaning towards them right now, as they look more official.

http://www.hartley-boats.com/16b.html offers the plans ($48) and study pack ($14) for a grand total of $62.

Is there much of a difference in the two set of plans? This is my first boat, so I really don't know for sure if I'm over my head in this project, but I have to start somewhere. I see this as a long term project lasting 3 or 4 summers. Is this a reasonable goal as long as I follow the plans?

 

Actually, I think I'm going with Clark Craft as I'll be able to buy their frame kit from them to get it started. Is this recommended for a novice boat builder? I think if they send the parts to the frame I can buy my own plywood to finish the hull.

Also, does anyone know what is included in the frame kit? Is it just enough to make the shape of the boat, and then I have to buy my own plywood and cabin wood?

 

I've decided to document the entire process in website form, so I'm using the free website creator wordpress to create this walkthrough presentation. I will add a new post for each step in the boat building process, so people can follow my project and maybe give me advice since it's my first boat. In the website, I act like a cocky, experienced sailor, but I'm really not. Just play along, haha.
