In trying to save money, I was wondering if I could use a Hall Craft in-out v-drive instead of a Walters for my inboard Luhrs 25' flybridge. Here's a link to it

I'm pretty sure these can handle a 440, and I'm guessing I can lock the input shifter to "on" permanently, but will this thing handle pushing a heavier boat around (6000lbs vs. a typical 1500lb river racer) or should I just save the money to pay to get my Walters rebuilt? Any idea what it cost to have a Walters gone through?

    Thanks!

The Gearbox doesn,t know how large or Fast your Boat is. All it knows is How much HP (Torque) is being absorved by the imput shaft.
If the gearbox ratings are Higher than your Engines output, you should be OK.
