I always knew real sailors were tuff as old rusty nails but never really thought about why... theres no comparison between life on the open oceans and a regular 9-5.... no ****. respect to these men and women who are able to handle this in stride. thats some real cajones!

Masalai, the1much, safe, harlem, etc. i get the feeling you guys have been around the block a few times in these ways. ****... i could barely handle a little coastal cruise from Long Beach to Ensenada!! keep me in the rivers and lakes. I think thats where im best. the only rogues in their are the drunk kind. I can handle those folks.

DrKungPao, Praise will get you somewhere - - Hope 'that somewhere', is where you were seeking to go.... Old farts seem to accumulate information (some call it knowledge - depends on who receives it and its relevance).... Then dementia invades the cerebellum and the filing system gets stuffed - making us next to useless....

The things we have to look forward to in later life.... :D:D:D

The problem with a boat is you cannot up and run, so this means do or die. You choose :D

That little coastal cruise from Long Beach to Ensenada is what you call experience. Every time round you learn a bit and you know how to do what. One day when you do not have a choice you may react different knowing how and it will see you through. It may not become pleasant though.

I stopped swearing at the wind and weather... just enjoy every second of it, because tomorrow you're back in the office and don't see water.

Aye you wanna know a secret Fanie? Funny enough after I got my feet back under me and had a few days there was a little part of me that wanted to go back out. I have no idea why cuz I'm stupid affraid of the wide open ocean and huge boats. The concept of being reminded of how absolutely un-important I am kinda doesnt sit well with me, but there it was in the back of my mind tellin me..."aye... whats the matter *****? you get a little scared? come on... chin up... are u alive or are you dead."

I think i would go back out, but I would have to be friends with the captain. being a nobody on a gigantic ship in the middle of rough seas made me feel pretty powerless. Not that knowing the captain would calm anything down, I would just feel better being in touch with the person whos in control.

and Masalai... I'm just keepin it real. aint trying to gain anything. Respect is important to me... thats all :) When I see people who can champ something that intimidated the hell out of me I show respect.

Tis a disease Kung Pao if you come back from the first time and want to go again, and do! You is stuck! there isn't a cure either, save either going back or death which is kind extreme - so go back and enjoy - remember you survived the first time, from now on it gets a little easier........each time.

remember If you go play again (why not?) you will get there - eventually, just depends how hard you want it!
