Can't seem to get the whole site

edjunior I get the imp page, but at the top where I guess there are some pictures the squares are blank wiith red x's in the corner. I would definatly like to join and add some support to the website.

Hey jersan, sorry about that. Dave had a bit of a "setback" on the site. It will be back up soon, but I don't know exactly when. It will have a different web address as well, as well as a few other changes. Keep checking here, and I'll try and remember to post when things get going again.

Thanks phish. That seems to be the general ramblings of all IMP owners, lack of information. But they sure are a great boat.

You might try Raymonds, in Missouri. (573)372-5115. If anyone can find you one they can.

Thanks oldtiger. That's actually where my boat came from. But it's not an IMP we're actually looking for, but rather information in general. This string is pretty good. The impboatclub site was great too, and hopefully will be again once Dave get's it up and running. Other than that, this is what we have.

    Re: Imp Boat Club

The site will be back soon, but as a sub to a new and bigger site, boatrebuilding.com. Most of the technical infor is the same across boats, thus the change.
A lot of work is going on behind the sceens, and will be re opening mid Sept

    Got a quick question.

I have a 23' IMP, not sure which one.

My question is about the foam in it.

I have been rinsing it out, and it keeps dripping for days, just slowly draining. I am wondering if I need to replace the foam, and more importantly, how do I do that. It doesnt look like a fun job. I would hope to go through the live bait tank in the middle of the boat, so I don't have to tear up the floor.

Help me with suggestions please. You can email me , it is in my profile

    Thanks

    IMP and Roller Trailer

I am a relatively new owner of a 1987 IMP 22 FISH. I bought the boat last December as a project (it was in rough shape) and took it out last weekend for the first time (everything ran well). During the winter I noticed a spot on the hull that was delaminating and had a bunch of spider cracks around it, I repaired with West System Epoxy. A couple nights ago I was thinking that I haven't noticed any pictures of IMP boats on roller trailers and was wondering if anyone knows if the manufacturer discouraged the use of roller trailers. I'm wondering if the trailer could be putting too much pressure on the hull and causing damage. Sorry, I dont have any specific pictures of what's going on with the hull.

Wow dpenn1, looks like you did great on your project. That's a great looking boat. Interesting question on the trailer. I have a Shoreland'r roller bunk trailer and I love it. Unloading an loading is so easy it's stupid. Even my wife can crank the boat up with little effort. And launching is just get the tires in the water, and a gentle push and off she goes. My problem is, my boat is right at the limit of the max weight of the trailer. I only have a single axle and the tires always look like they are low, even when they are spot on 50 pounds. I really need a tandem axle, and would love to get another roller bunk. Maybe it's just an adjustment thing on yours??? The Shoreland'r rep told me that they custom adjust the bunks to fit your boat after purchase of a new trailer (same thing with a McClain I looked at...but not a roller bunk). Otherwise I don't know why a roller bunk would cause any more damage than a standard bunk. Anyone else???

Thanks Edjunior, I appreciate the comments. I do need to adjust the trailer, the boat didn't go on straight when I loaded it last weekend. I think it's been a problem for a long time because when I bought the boat the bow wasn't centered in the bow stop and the bow stop was damaged. The trailer had quite a few problems when I got it. I repaired the problems I could see including replacing all of the rollers. I was going to make adjustments over the winter but I thoguth I should get the engine and drive back in place and get it loaded with fuel (100 gal tank) before fine tuning. Looks like I'm ready now, Care to bet on how many bolts will break off in the process?

    ED's Trailer

Make yours a tandem,(call me, can get you going in the right direction) find a junker tandem trailer, remove both axles, and the axle hanger frames. Center the two axle on the orig center of single axle, and your adjustment is close, you want them just a little farther back from where the trailer tends to fishtail. As for roller versus bunk, If you examine a heavy boat on a bunk trailer, you will notice the bunks are bowed away from the hull between supports. A bunk style trailer usually has fewer supports than a roller trailer, (you decide, bunks also tend to ""Hook"" a hull)especialy a good roller traile mfg like Caulkins. Me, Iv'e owned both and prefer a good roller trailer, coupled with a 2 speed winch with brake(steep ramps require it)

    Worth the money

Been looking for an IMP for some time and I think I found one. 1976 Aztec
20', with 225 OMC drive. It's been stored inside for the life of the boat and has 177 hours on it. Interior looks brand new, but is orgional. Owner wants $5,000 for boat and trailer. It just seems a little high for a 32 year old boat.
I have a test ride scheduled for next week, to check everything out, but question finding parts for the OMC drive, I have not read a lot of good things about the electrict shift models. Any feedback anyone could give on cost and parts would be greatly appreicated

    Re

you can always upgrade to a later omc 800 cable shift drive, direct bolt in, and control modification. me if the elec shift is working good, run it yill it dies, then upgrade. as for the price, if it runs out as good as it sounds, yo cant find a better all around boat. especialy in rough water.

    thanks

Thanks, I did not know that an 800 cable shift would bolt right in. Do you have an IMP, they were the BOAT at Lake of the Ozarks in the 70's and 80's
