Was that the one where they couldn't unload them, or work out any certain worth or anything really?

No worries... create a company in the Caymans and sell it all off to them... that way at least we get to keep our yachts when the brown stuff is hanging off the air reticulation system...thats how you do it..no?

These past few days have been massive learning experiences for me - Thanks folk.... I have survived without pain or noticeable loss yet and I feel my actions based on recent understanding, has set me on a less worrisome path....

Now 'tis just the inane bureaucratic responses expected in any economic/fiscal debacle that may catch their attention and desire to intercede....

The big picture of all this world wide ---disaster!! is that it shows jut how puny and silly we all are on this planet.

We put these big bosses up on huge pedistals and pay em ridiculous amounts of money because they say they are clever.

Im not in the buisnes of giving mortages and to be honest have not paid too much attention to the financial world ,--but I tell you this --if I was in the buisnes working day to day I would have been able to see that 125% mortages and all this sub prime self certificated borrowing was going to end in tears.

Thats not talking with hind sight, I got out of the property market in 89 because I just could'nt understand why they were going up to the point that people could'nt buy them. Its happend again with similar results --DUUUHH.

Thats just 20 years ago. I suppose if you are only 30 it would not have been important to you when you were 10.

Sir this and sir that out on the golf courses irritate me.

It also irritates me that 30 years old is considered employable ages for high up positions.

If we'd have let things unfold then we'd be in a much better position now. Things should have rolled over and we should have had a "cleansing" recession. Instead it was mild and we loaded up on the stimulated monetary policy for another great big go on the "money go round"... This is the ultimate result and it looks like we can't effect a similar rescue this time. Its like a drunk avoiding a hang over by having another drink.... it only works for so long... then :D you know the rest. Hangover dead ahead?

All things being equal your timing was intuitively good but we took another line of coke and partied on through the night....is that the sun coming up?

"And I don't hear a lot about Venezuela these days...it was estimated that she had the biggest reserves in the world...except it was a very heavy crude, But isn't that more productive than oil sands on a density basis??"
I think they are selling more to China now since bush and chavez are at war.I can tell you for a fact that diesel fuel was $.17 {17cents}per gallon there in March 2008, and we filled 24 gallons of gasoline for dingy for under $2 total.
Chavez recently nationalized one of the heavy crude refineries there, so the prices may go down.

An oil guy told me the other day the country is f*cked coz their costs are now about USD100/bbl and they sell some for the cash and a massive subsidy supplying into the local economy.
As I understand it a well only comes out at pressure for about the first 40% of the reserve, then you start using technology to get the rest all of which is costing more and more every day and every field in the world is very old today!

You know those e account that banks do these days, no statements no post no nothing?

Well my bank has deducted 48,000pounds from my account, they say they don't see it on their screen, but as I had done some changing of accounts I had to wait till the computer decides what to do and down load interest etc etc .

Ok fair enough I said. 3 days now and I am still -48,000 missing.

Apparantly the new account I opened had -48,000 pounds on opening?? and when I put more in it deducted the -48000

Im not too concerened (this is Bradford and Bingley by the way) because they will have had to send it some where, and as I can ONLY send it to nominated accounts of my own name it cant have been me.

I had to print out my screen and they want me to post it to them so they can find out whats happened.

I would'nt have thought this type of cock up to be possible.

Frosty, Be careful ANYTHING is possible "electronically" - nothing more comforting than to hold gold in your hand - knowing electrons cannot delete it when some thieving ******* hits the appropriate computer key..... The only problem with gold is where to hide it so you can get it when needed, but house-breakers will never find it....

Some "experts" have been recommending at least a third of your total in gold etc and only 6 months expenses kept in cash - not in a bank..... the rest in other tangible assets.... That advise was given about 2 years ago in USA.....
