Volvo 280 Leg Help Please

    i,ve just noticed that i have a very small amount of water comming from the bottom of the leg.

    Can i just tighten up the bolts on the inside of the leg shield or will she need a lift out of the water

    You'll have to elaborate a bit. Is the water leaking into the boat?

    Unless they're loose, I doubt tightening the bolts will help; but it's the easiest first step - Just make sure you don't over-tighten and sink them into the transom (plywood I assume). There is a rubber seal that fits between the shield and the transom that's supposed to keep the water out - but they're pretty prone to leaking from what I've seen. People are always putting silicon or some other type of sealant around the transom shield attempting to keep the water out. Hopefully whoever built the boat sealed up the cut-out in the transom to keep it from soaking up that water and rotting out.
    Do you have an automatic bilge?

    Hi Thanks for that there is only a very small amout of water leaking in but it still needs doing.

    I have the boat booked in for liftout in the morning so i can remove the legand fit new seals, bit of a rush we are on holiday on monday for 3 weeks crusing :eek:
