"Beyond Lean Shipbuilding" seminar July 25

    The Gulf Coast Region Maritime Technology Center and Managing Change Associates are pleased to announce a seminar entitled Beyond "Lean Shipbuilding" - Attaining A Process of Ongoing Improvement. This seminar will be taught by Mr. Frank H. Rack, Principal of Managing Change Associates. Mr. Rack has extensive experience in shipbuilding with 20 years of management in numerous shipyard functions, followed by over 25 years as President of Shipbuilding Consultants, Inc. and Managing Change, Inc.

    This seminar reviews traditional manufacturing strategies such as MRP, TQM, JIT, and the Theory of Constraints including their primary focus and major techniques. Existing shipbuilding paradigms will be presented and new approaches will be explored. This course should be attended by senior shipyard management and professionals responsible for improving the profitability of their shipyards.

    The Seminar will be held July 25, 2001 at the UNO/Avondale Maritime Technology Center of Excellence. The course fee is $250 and includes the seminar, lunch, and a copy of the reference book, titled The Race by Eliyahu M. Goldratt and Robert E. Fox.
