    SailDesign Old Phart! Stay upwind..

Is not the purpose of research to do your own looking, in order to learn?
That said - if you need to research yacht exterior styling, why not just browse the gallery here. Then google "yacht" and see what comes up.

    Thank you!
In fact,i have began to collect images and data about the yacht exterior styling. In China, there is not enough resource about my paper. While i think luxury yacht for private, which people can live on it ,relative data is very rare by google.

Have you even done the job about this topic?

Skysoar: Its not clear what aspect of the exterior design of yachts you are considering - purely asthetics? If so, Ferenc Mate (with an accent ague over the 'e' on Mate) wrote a book called 'The Perfect Yacht' which attempted to cover some aspects of the same in sailboats, at least in his own opinion. Robert Perry writes a column 'Perry on Design' which appears monthly in Sailing magazine - it covers, in lay terms, all aspects of the design of a few boats each month. Good luck.

Skysoar: Where are you in China? I am about to purchase a traditional 23 metre wooden fishing style hull that was built as a cruiser. The current configuration is very poor and requires a complete redesign and build. You are right when you say resources in China are scarce. Infact they are almost non existant. Brad - Sailing magazine and other such publications are simply not availbale here.

Anyway in reading your enquiry I thought that my boat could be an interesting exercise for you and you colleauges. let me know if you are interested and your mail address and I can send photos. If someone can tell me how to post I am happy to post photos also. Best of luck! Mike Koop

    Try It!

This may be a little bit off topic but, I think the best way to learn anything artistic such as yacht styleing is to try it. Look around first then just start sketching designs. Then go to some one honest that knows about boats (like your tuder) and have them tell you what they like and don't like. Do it for a couple people. Trial and Error. Works for me! ;)
