Origin of phrases in American culture................and other weird or ironic things.

Coast Guard cadet quotes Malcolm X at graduation.

Isn't this one of Dick Cheney's favorite sayings too?

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Malcolm X

Another phrase I find even more curious is "Evil Doers", where did it originally come from?

I've only heard this phrase from angry, radical Christian, street-corner preachers. Y'know, the ones who try to convert you by verbally abusing you.

(I much prefer the group who just passes out free New Testaments.)

    Hi All,

The phrase "Evil Doers" is found once in the Book of Job, and once in The Psalms.

I wholly agree as to the abusive "witnessers". My girlfriend was at wedding reception the other night. The man hired to do videography started a conversation with her by asking if she were married. She said no, but that we were to marry next year. She had fallen for the bait He then asked, "what church are you marrying in?". When her answer did not please him, he laid into her.

    How entirely unproffesional & innpropriate.

    Tim

The below statement is credited to Cheney, don't know if it's accurate but it sure sounds like him.

Bottom line folks as we all know it ain't how we wage the war but the final result that matters!

In the war against the communist aggressor -which unfortunately this still is ONLY one war has ever been won!! there's a couple that are close and alot that have been surrendered to to look like we won but only one that the west actually won -because the people wanted to win!! That gentlemen is the final and absolute reason - the people want it!! Go ask Ari (or Masalai, he to knows)

Too much money to be made on our splendid little war to end it now.

Truman saw the bodies stacked up in WWI, he wanted a quick end to WWII.
