    Thanks Redtech,
sorry, been down in florida for a month working on a boat.
Anyway, I found one of these 250 sailors and was thinking of using it as a dinghy motor, but don't know anything about them. Appears to be well built, little used, and turns freely, tho havn't had a chance to fire it up yet.

What I was wondering was, is the motor worth messing with? Does it have inherent problems that would make it unreliable, or if in decent shape, can I expect to give some good years in service? Gathering from the weight of the thing (seems darned heavy for a ten horse motor :) chrysler at least put a lot of metal into the motor :) heheh

So, any information you can offer about the thing would be useful .

    and thanks.

Chrysler outboards were very well made and served well for every person I knew who owned them.

You can't give them away in Oz, at least the old ones. Bottom of the heap reputation, make a good anchor kinda thing.

The big problem is that they have not been made for many years and parts may be getting scarce. I often see pairs of them for sale, one for "parts" motor. But, as I said, the ones I saw ran like sewing machines. Like any other machine, they need some care, clean fuel and minimum of punishing abuse. I know of at least one company that makes aftermarket electronics for them: www.rapair.com
