Think of the impact as dropping the boat at that speed on a surface. At high speeds water becomes very hard and penetration does not happen hence the boat planes on top of it.

If you really want to know then jump out of a boat at high speed. It's like falling off the roof.

hasani, at what speed and what conditions? - Hydros racing offshore (Dubai) is different to designing for high speed Atlantic crossing... (and both are beyond my capacity, and anyone who can answer will want to extract hefty fees for this specialist design service...)

    Guillermo,
Many thanks - your knowledge and capacity to find information is nothing short of amazing. I had a read, and although the technical bits were glossed over by me, I learned a lot.... Thanks again...

Been also listening and enjoying the music/noise of Buddy Rich, Gene Kruper Carter Beauford, Charly Antolini, Duke Ellington, Sandy Nelson and the Shaddows... - nice when up loud :D:D:D and nothing outside could disturb me...
