is there a standard chart that gives estimates on how much resin is needed for each kind of fiberglass material? i wouldn't know where to find one, but it would be usefull for bulk purchases. BTW i'm new to fiberglass boat building. I have an old 14' bass boat that i'm gonna start with (deck, hatches, transom, stringers, the likes) to gain some experience and hopefully have a nice finished product

For hand laminating woven & stitched cloth (not csm) allow a resin to glass ratio of 60:40 (%) 60% resin to 40% glass by weight. If you do better, 50:50,
all the more power to you. Search FRP resin to glass ratio.

    Glass to Resin ratio

One quick and reasonably accurate way to estimate resin usage is to calculate it using the glass to resin ratio you expect to produce.

For example a layer of Vectorply 3610 0-90 bi-axial (E-LTM 3610) is 45.42 oz per square yard or a little over 5 oz per square foot. If you expect a 40:60 glass to resin ratio, then figure 5 (glass) is to X (resin) as 40 is to 60. Each square foot of fabric will require 7.5 oz of resin. Add 10% for overspray, waste left in the bucket... Make it 8.25 oz of resin as a starting point. I teach this method for determining how much resin or gelcoat to mix when making repairs.

If you were doing resin infusion, what would the target be 50:50 similar to vacuum bagging hand laminates?

thanks for the chart and replies. I got it now: ~30:70 for csm and ~40:60 for cloth and WR. the cost of resin must really build up.
